Das Kunst- und Medienzentrum Rheinhafen von Frank O. Gehry (USA) gliedert sich in drei kontrastreich gestaltete Gebäudeteile und wirkt wie eine riesige Skulptur. Durch die Auswahl unterschiedlicher Materialien erhält jeder Gebäudekomplex eine eigene Identität.
Als Verbindung zwischen den drei Häusern wird das Material der Fassade des mittleren Baukörpers so gewählt, dass sich die Häuser auf der nördlichen und
südlichen Seite darin spiegeln können.
Die Gehry-Bauten gelten als neues Düsseldorfer Wahrzeichen.

Obwohl es eines der später fertiggestellten Gebäude im Düsseldorfer Hafen ist, steht der neue Zollhof (Gehry-Bauten) mit seiner extrovertierten Formgebung als symbolträchtiges Bauwerk für den Strukturwandel vom alten Zollhafen zum Medienhafen.
Am nördlichen Rand des Hafens gelegen fungiert das Gebäudeensemble, das von dem berühmten amerikanischen Architekten Frank O. Gehry entworfen wurde, als Bindeglied zur Stadt.
Das Bauvolumen ist auf drei skulpturale Baukörper verteilt, die einerseits in ihrer expressiven Gestalt eine Dreieinigkeit bilden, sich aber in ihrer Ausführung stark unterscheiden.
Am auffälligsten ist die unterschiedliche Materialität und Verformung der Gebäude. So ist das zum Hafen hin gelegene komplett verklinkerte „Haus A“ kantig verformt, während das mittige „Haus B“ eine wellige, die Umgebung spiegelnde Edelstahlfassade besitzt und beim weiß verputzten „Haus C“ die verschachtelten Bauvolumen großformatige Rundungen die Gestalt bestimmen.
Auch die Höhenentwicklung ist unterschiedlich: Das stadtwärts gelegene weiße „Haus C“ überragt mit seinen dreizehn Geschossen das nur siebengeschossige mittlere Gebäude und den elfgeschossigen Klinkerbau.
Die von Gehrys Prager Bürogebäude „Ginger and Fred“ bekannten vorstehenden Fensterboxen sind hier gleichmäßig über die Oberflächen aller Gebäudeteile verteilt und unterstützen die visuelle Einheit des gesamten Gebäudeensembles.
Die gekrümmten Freiformflächen wurden mittels einer Software aus dem Flugzeugbau berechnet und als Formfertigteile hergestellt.
Der Gehry Bau „Haus B“ mit der Edelstahlfassade wurde bis Anfang 2014 von Concept Team aus Düsseldorf in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Architekturbüro BMP Hesse Haselhoff kernsaniert.

“Neuer Zollhof” (also known as the “Gehry buildings”) is today a world-famous masterpiece: The buildings dominate the skyline of Dusseldorf’s port, overshadowing other buildings by renowned architects constructed in the 1990s following the revival and redevelopment of the old port.
Bij de gebouwen van Der Neue Zollhof vind je mooie plekken om de Medienhafen te fotograferen. Ook zie je hier het werk van een beroemde hedendaagse architect. De Canadese architect Frank O. Gehry ontwierp dit complex van drie gebouwen tussen 1996 en 1998. Deze gebouwen vervingen het oude douanekantoor van de haven. Gehry is ook de ontwerper van het Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao en de Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

After a whole day of gloomy weather and dark clouds, at the end of the day a faint sun broke down, of course just when I was in Dusseldorf somewhere else, so hurriedly took the city train with much stress and after walking finally arrived at this famous building to photograph just in 5 min with a little sunshine.
The "Art and Media Center Rhine Haven", better known as the Gehry Buildings, was completed in the place of Düsseldorf’s old customs building in 1999. The American architect Frank O. Gehry has made a name for himself worldwide with his deconstructivist architecture. Among his creations are the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, the Disney concert hall in Los Angeles and the dancing house in Prague.

The "Art and Media Center Rhine Haven" in Düsseldorf, Germany designed by the American architect Frank O. Gehry is always worth a visit. Gehry has made a name for himself worldwide with his deconstructivist architecture and the buildings in Düsseldorf are a fine example of his style. When I went there, it was a bright sunny day and I couldn’t get good control on the light. Oh well, I did the best I could. It’s not far from where I work so I will have plenty of more chances to get a better shot. Also check on my other captures of those Gehry buildings if you like.

Neuer Zollhof is a prominent landmark of Düsseldorf's Media Harbour (Düsseldorfer Medienhafen, the redeveloped port of Düsseldorf, Germany). The building complex, consisting of three separate buildings, was designed by the American architect Frank O. Gehry and completed in 1998/99.
