I saw this bridge as I left the airport and later learned it had just opened – replacing a roundabout. I would have liked light trails from cars, but on this night, there was hardly any traffic.

The bridge is officially known as the Memorial Avenue Gateway Bridge

This is the view looking out to the entrance of Refrigerator Canyon, the easy paved path at the beginning of the climb to Angels Landing.

. . . a 630-foot national monument in St. Louis, Missouri built of stainless steel, It is the world's tallest arch, and the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere. It marks the 1803 starting point of the Lewis and Clark Expedition near the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.

Something a bit different from me a little photoshop project I've had in my mind for a little while.

I'm not that good with photoshop but would welcome any feedback on what could be done better or what you think of it.

Alton & Southern and parent power stands in the shadow of the Gateway Arch at Alton & Southerns receiving Yard.

This is a shot of the Gateway Plaza building in Pasadena, CA.

Gateway Arch, St. Louis, Missouri. The arch is 630 ft. tall, more that twice the height of the Statue of Liberty (305 ft. tall).

One of the first wide views of the Yosemite gateway,Half Dome,El Capitan, and Bridalveil Falls can be seen together.Unbeknownest to us,President Obama visited the park the day before we visited. This year is the 100th anniversary of the United States National Park System,so attendance at the parks has been higher than normal.

I have a feeling there would have been a "little" traffic jam that day....

Gateway Arch image taken the day before St. Louis had about 5 consecutive days of rain and significant flooding in late December 2015. I was fortunate to get this shot because this was the last hour of sunlight on my visit to St. Louis (the rest of the days it rained).

Belém Tower - historical part of a defence system at the mouth of the Tagus river and a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon.

Garden of the Gods Park, Colorado Springs, CO - The day's first rays of light reach down into the park ...

I have found this coin bank at home making me dreaming to America and thinking that I will be died before getting enough coins to go visit New York (smile).

Gateway to Malham

This track and gateway made interesting foreground detail for the dappled lit fields of Malham.

Llanddwyn Island is most famous for it's connection with Saint Dwynwen the Welsh Patron Saint of lovers. According to legend, Dwynwen, was a 5th Century princess, one of 24 daughters of the Welsh King Brychan Brycheiniog. She had fallen in love, but her father had promised her hand in marriage to another.

Night Photography on the Alps

Night view from the summit of Mount Rocciamelone (3.538 m) toward the Punta Lunella (2.772 m), a mountain in the Graian Alps (Italy) whose summit here emerges from an infinite bank of thick clouds.

We can therefore approximate the altitude of the cloudscape around 2.600 meters, or so...

which means about nine hundred meters below me.

More in the distance are visible the lights of Turin (one of the largest cities in northern Italy) that lit up from beneath the mass of clouds.

Then the universe, with planet Jupiter clearly visible on the left.

One of those visions I would say out of this world.

I could not even conceive photography if released from the search of the amazing simplicity that lies in the infinite.

Where planet Earth and all our momentary certainties must give way to the immensity of the unknown universe. The bridge to the absolute, the gateway of awe.

We made a flying visit to the south-west on Tuesday with a car full of furniture and other items for Judy's son's new home. He'd been unable to get some essential items following the lockdown, and so we came to the rescue. It was over a 500 mile round trip, but we managed to get some much needed exercise and grab a handful of shots at the same time. This was taken a few miles west of Moretonhampstead as we crossed Dartmoor. Meldon Hill is in the distance with Chagford just beyond, out of sight.

One of those beautiful evenings where the sky is almost too blue for photos. The keen- eyed will spot an untrained Beagle disappearing under the gate into the sheep field whilst I was preoccupied! I only saw her during post - processing!
