I just got a greenhouse and am looking for inspiration as I want to make it pretty as well as productive inside. I want to grow some exotic veg/fruit/flower plants in it.

She even manages to grow a passion fruit plant in it (yes one that fruits).
Well, caterpillar, actually. A Yellowjacket finds lunch. Not a great end for the caterpillar, but it saves my lettuce. The wasps worked the garden constantly last year, probably the only reason I got any greens at all.
As I was working in my backyard garden yesterday, I came to a realization... The veggies that I grow in my veggie bed have been declining. I tried putting more drip irrigation and adding coco coir in addition to compost and all my normal soil amendments, but it seems like each season, the soil stars to dry out fast and seems like the nutrients in the soil disappears... I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I think the roots of our large fruit trees are robbing the nutrients and moisture from my nearby veggie beds. And it makes sense because I find big roots when I dig up the soil in the beds... Now I don't know what to do. Anyone have a solution?... I have a friend who has this issue and she raised her beds, using plywood as the floor with an air gap between the bed and ground. I don't know if I want to do that. Maybe I need to make the beds even taller and put good soil on top. But how long will that last... Any suggestions?
