Designed by Charles Holden in the 1930’s

This is a shot of Baileys Gant a cut through from George Yard to the High Street and as can be seen it runs between buildings and finally through a tunnel created by the buildings to the High Street.

The lower concourse of Gants Hill tube station has been photographed by many London photographers, myself included, so I thought I'd try to capture it from a slightly different viewpoint than everyone else. Basically I used my tripod like a painters pole and took this picture from next to the clock in the hall, about 11 foot in the air.

And here's the same shot, taken with a 12mm fisheye lens - thanks to the lines on the ground, it's a perfect example of the effect a fisheye lens has on your shots. By Mark Higham. Instagram: @mhigham.photos

Gants Hill Underground Station was designed by the famous London Underground architect Charles Holden. It resembles many stations on the Moscow Metro, because Holden was advising them on station design at the same time as Gants Hill was being built. Gants Hill Station opened on the Central Line in 1947, 8 years after work on it was started.
