21st Century central Galway sits cheek-to-jowl with 19th Century homes and businesses. (I've shot this scene before, taken from a multi-story car park, but on a different level and different light. I seldom shoot the same spot twice, but I couldn't pass up the light on the structures this day.)
Some wander through life; others march towards destiny. This man, clear eyed, marches with his instrument over one shoulder and amplifier over the other, while the others around him stroll aimlessly. The 'compass rose' tattoo on our lad's right hand speaks volumes. Seen on the streets of Galway Ireland.
A wide shot of a stranger that looks a bit cinematic. Look out for strangers in the shadows... If you are only interested in my street photos, I've now created an Instagram account where I'll only post street stuff. Here: www.instagram.com/fergal_flatlight/
From here you can take a boat ride to the Aran Island's
Three island's about 15 miles of the coast. Next stop the US of A.

Looking out across Galway Bay with the Aran Islands in the distance to the right. What a beautiful place to walk along the shore.
I'm starting my holiday posts with this image of my Miss as she is the reason we went on our trip to the UK. The trip had its ups and downs with my illness and some additional ones while away (trust me) and that of people back home so I am glad to be home (with my dogs) and am very aware of what a privilege it is to be able to travel.
We were so lucky to spend a week with Miss traveling around Ireland before leaving her at Sheffield for her University Exchange.
This was taken in Galway. A party atmosphere, with lights, colour, flags, beer and animated buskers in the narrow, cobblestone streets. I called her name and she turned towards me and I said "stayyyy" and I snapped this. Several times I was asked to take photos of her with her phone but apparently I am the worst photo taker ever. I never got it right! But I love this one.
I wish I could play you my dear friend Paul's version of Galway Girl-its brilliant but I will leave you with Steve Earls to enjoy.

Less emphasis on our subject and more on the scene... yeah, 16x9 vertical... I'm weird like that. For my best (?) street photos, check www.instagram.com/fergal_flatlight/ where you can see them and ignore the pastoral landscapes and P-shop experiments that I also post here. Just saying....
