On June 29, Secretary Denis McDonough completed nearly a week-long trip through Colorado and New Mexico. During his travels, which began on June 23, he visited VA facilities, a Denver-area Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, a University of New Mexico campus in Gallup, and an Indian Health Service Medical Center also in Gallup. In addition to visiting with VA leadership and staff to get a sense of how care and services are being provided, he talked with Veterans at two Veteran townhalls - one in Denver and one in Gallup, a Denver Pride event, and an event that recognized the Navajo Nation as the first Tribal nation to qualify to host Veteran service officers to assist Veterans with benefit and pension claims.
