It's scrapbooking night at Cowboy Church, so it seemed a good night to share my first scrapbook page from the testimony books we're making. It's usually on a 2nd Saturday when I don't get to go, but the beginning of this happened when I got the scrapbook lady to come to my writer's group and teach how to make the testimony books. And hopefully you can read my writing on the index card. :-)
Just FYI: My husband and I took in 4 of his nephews who were living in an orphanage. It was temporary while their mother was on probation. But I loved all those boys like they were my own. The youngest, however, has developed a closer relationship with both me and his uncle. His birth mother gave us her blessing to adopt him (as an adult) because she said she never felt that connection with him, so I believe this is an answer to a prayer from way back when I was 15 and learned I could never have children of my own. In case it's too hard to read, here's what's on the card...
"When he asked me to dance with him at his upcoming wedding, it was a dream come true. For all the mother/son dances I've watched, longing to be a mother after years of not having children, I never imagined I would stand in that place. But now, my nephew Joshua was officially asking me to be his mom... with a dance. And when I read the lyrics to the song he chose, it was made even more perfect. God gave me a son!"

While the adoption is not final yet, the love and the mother-son relationship already exist. Though I had received Mother's Day gifts before as an aunt to Joshua and his 3 brothers, it thrilled me this year to get my first-ever Mother's Day gifts as a mom. I set them up with some pink tissue paper as a backdrop then added decor and framing in both Irfanview and KVAD Photo Studio Pro. Sadly, the KVAD removes the EXIF data.
One of the major decoration themes at French Lick Resort is along the Dickens line. I love the look of gas lamps, even in replica, and they look amazing against the golden wallpaer and with the pine and ribbons wrapped around. I had to capture this for all those beautiful parts. Then I added a simple red vignette in Irfanview.

Taking today to celebrate our son turning 29 this month. He moved in with us at 5 years old as a nephew (with dimples and that adorable smile seen in the top of image above).
Though life brought many difficulties to him (including an overdose with brain injury), God and prayer got all of us through them. We are in a beautiful place now as we are completing an adult adoption with him. Other than the paperwork, he is absolutely our son now, and I even got to have a mommy/son dance at his wedding last September. He married the beautiful girl in the bottom half of the picture, our new daughter-in-law Stephanie. It's a sweet answer to prayer for a formerly childless couple. 💖😃🎂
Note: I cried all through the dance, especially when I heard the song he chose... Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion. It even talks of my speaking when he couldn't speak which is how it was when he was in a coma for 6 weeks. It's hard to put into words just what all God has done in our lives.
