3 shot panorama from Te Arai Point.

Its amazing what you find when you look closely at the frozen water in your dog's outside water bowl on a winter day...

Bodes Galaxy (M81) and the Cigar Galaxy (M82) are known to form a beautiful pair of galaxies. M81 is strongly interacting with M82 and a third galaxy, named NGC 3077. This galactic trio was the target of this image.

M81 is a spiral galaxy about 12 million light-years away, in the constellation Ursa Major. It is the main galaxy of the 'M81 Group', which includes 60 Galaxies.

M82 is a starburst galaxy and a member of the M81 Group. It is it is about five times more luminous than the whole Milky Way and has a center one hundred times more luminous than our galaxy's center. The starburst activity is thought to have been triggered by interaction with neighboring galaxy M81.

NGC3077 is thr small galaxy on the left and a member of the M81 Group as well. Despite looking much like an elliptical galaxy, it is a spiral galaxy. It shows wispy edges and scattered dust clouds that are probably a result of gravitational interaction with its larger neighbors.

I wanted to add this one on to the previous composite to create a large image of the Milky way center, but couldn't make it work.

So I'm going to upload the individual images.

Taken with canon 70D, vintage Pentax manual 50mm f1.4 lens at f3.5, IOptron Startracker Pro, Rigel finder system.

Processed in Photoshop.

First successful milky way attempt!

The nights in Namibia are magical. The skies are dark and studded with stars. the milky way visible to the naked eye. The night sky seen the way it was meant to be seen. The Quiver tree basking in the glow of the night. (well a drone was used to light the tree, but lets ignore that fact for now).

Here's my entry to round three of the contest, and finally with a better picture! Tell me what you guys think, comments and faves are greatly appreciated!

Amazing night skies over Delicate Arch from none other than Arches National Park in Utah! Experiencing the night sky in southern Utah was on my bucket list for a while. The dry air and high elevation makes the night sky jump out at you. In this image you can see the Milky Way arching over top of Delicate Arch with wispy clouds passing above. The clouds were illuminated by light pollution from the city of Moab. This is a 30 image panorama captured with a Nikon D750 and 24mm lens.

The Milky Way seen through a cave on the California coast. Captured fully in the middle of the night a couple weeks ago.

It can be tough to get a clear night for astrophotography on the coast, but we've gotten all our shots on the first try, thanks to #escaype forecasts :)

“To whom will you compare me?

Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:

Who created all these?

He who brings out the starry host one by one

and calls forth each of them by name.

Because of his great power and mighty strength,

not one of them is missing. (Isaiah 40: 25-26)

ain't it just like the night to play tricks

when you're tryin' to be so quiet

we sit here stranded

though we're all doin' our best to deny it ...

Attending the One On One Thierry Mugler show felt like stepping into another world and wearing this dress with Twinkie by my side was a moment I’ll never forget. Seeing how effortlessly she embodies her style inspires and reminds me why I love pushing boundaries in my own style . <3

Fashion isn’t just about what you wear.

It’s about how you feel.

Today, I felt unstoppable.

The details of the look:

- The Supernova dress by Mesh Entity with MVDxDERNIER Thierry earrings in silver with sapphires.

- Unholy did my accessories with their Lamia's Rage claws and Vesicarum rings.

- fashionism styled my hair in their Cardi Unit look.

- Lyrbra carried my feet wit their spiky Rocky Full's.

- Makeup exclusively (I assure you) by Warpaint, per usual.

Having stumbled across this place once I had thought to myself it would make a great image. I just needed everything to align. This week it did.

Our Milky Way galaxy with green airglow from Badlands National Park. Nikon D750 and 14mm lens at F/2.8 and 14mm ISO 6400 6 frame panorama 50 second exposures.

After successfully capturing the Aurora in May this year, I just couldn't drive back home without photographing the Milky Way rising over the horizon shortly after midnight.

FR] Il y a quelques semaines, je me suis rendu dans les champs de lavandes de la Provence avec quelques amis pour immortaliser la voie lactée dans ces jolis paysages ✨

[EN] A few weeks ago, I went to the lavender fields of Provence with some friends to immortalize the Milky Way in these pretty landscapes ✨

with a side dish of Mount Rainier and a random tree. This composition isn't totally working for me but I like the detail in the Milky Way,

This composite consists of three images so far in a quest to produce a high resolution image of the galactic core. As weather, moon cycles and time permits I will add more images until the computer tells me it can't handle any more.

See the single image from June 11 for description of the equipment and method used.

Somewhere out among the stars, there is life. Here on Earth, we have the remains of what appears to have once lived. These "Cracked Eggs" located in the Bisti Badlands, remind me of mushrooms popping out their tiny heads toward the night sky.

I know they never lived...or did they?

Digital collage, painting and processing

The galactic center is the center of gravity of the Milky Way system. Seen from the earth, it lies in the constellation Sagittarius, where the visible band of the Milky Way appears to be the most dense. The distance of the earth from the center of the Milky Way is about 25,000 light-years. At the center of the Milky Way is a massive black hole.

We finally got out camping somewhere dark enough for me to attempt a Milky Way panorama. About 20 minutes after our campfire died out and the eyes finally became adjusted to the darkness, it was amazing how many stars were visible. Also amazing was how much more the camera could see with a long exposure than we could! This was taken along the Arkansas River near Ruby Mountain in Colorado, and though about 80 miles away, one can see Colorado Springs off to the east lighting up the horizon. The hillside in the foreground is lit up by a lone ranch house and its attendant porch light. Now that the process of creating such an image is less opaque, I'm interested to try light painting a more stimulating foreground...

This is a stitch of 4 overlapping landscape oriented shots.
