The Hall of Fame and Museum is dedicated to preserving Canada's baseball heritage which dates back to June 4, 1838, when a game which very closely resembled today's game of baseball was played in Beachville, Ontario.

The Hall gained some major attention when Pete Rose became eligible for election for earning his 4,000th MLB hit while playing with the Montreal Expos in 1984, however Rose has yet to be elected to the Hall.

Almighty God's words "Those Who obey God With a True Heart Shall Surely Be Gained by God"

www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/the-truly-obedient-shall-...

Introduction

Almighty God says, "Obedience to God and submission to the work of God are one and the same. Those who submit only to God but not to the work of God cannot be deemed to be obedient, and surely neither can those who do not truly submit and are outwardly sycophantic. Those who truly submit to God are all able to gain from the work and achieve understanding of the disposition and God's Work. Only such men truly submit to God. Such men are able to gain new knowledge from new work and experience new changes from the same. Only such men have the approval of God; only this kind of man is one perfected and has undergone a transformation of his disposition. Those approved by God are those who gladly submit to God, as well as to His word and work. Only this kind of man is in the right; only this kind of man truly desires and seeks God."

Great Blue Heron gaining speed for liftoff

Perhaps it's my imagination, or perhaps it's the influence of the Jurassic Park trilogy. This running heron looks remarkably primitive, almost like a theropod dinosaur. It's astonishing how some of their features and movements seem to echo their dinosaur heritage. The long legs, streamlined bodies, and agile, predatory-like movements are evolutionary traits that remain discernible in modern-day birds.

It's intriguing to live in an era where we can understand how these adaptations have persisted and evolved over millions of years.

3135 feet of elevation gain in 3 1/2 miles. And that's all that I have to say about that...

Mildred point is one of the highest viewpoints on the South side of Rainier next to Van Trump (which is kinda in view to the right) and of course Skyline which if you lost your baring's you might find yourself on the summit of the volcano... It is also unique in that it doesn't take you to a lovely spot, nay, it takes you to a chasm, a rocky valley carved and eroded by many a lahar and landslides depicting the more volatile aspects of the Grand Lady. Up and to the left you can just discern the Kautz Glacier and the birth of the creek by the same name as it is expelled into the world via waterfalls and a downhill run that would make a bobsledder cry. The chill wind is in your face and ruffling your clothes all the while the sound of water surrounds you interrupted occasionally by the sound of a boulder bouncing down the steep slopes and the insanely loud CRACK of the glacier melting in the Summer heat. I was alone as I'd set off at dawn and I couldn't find a bird, squirrel, dear, elk, bear, nor human in any pics or in person, it was eerie, just me and the mountain that I'd not seen in what felt like ages sharing a moment.

The Rose-breasted Grosbeak was not muted in his singing, but the softly coloured bib, the few white feathers in the black Head and the speckled plummage down the sides make me believe this one is a first year male, and on his way to gaining those rich colours of the adult male.

The Temple of Kom Ombo is an unusual double temple in the town of Kom Ombo in Aswan Governorate, Upper Egypt. It was constructed during the Ptolemaic dynasty, 180–47 BC. Some additions to it were later made during the Roman period. The building is unique because its 'double' design meant that there were courts, halls, sanctuaries and rooms duplicated for two sets of gods. The southern half of the temple was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, god of fertility and creator of the world with Hathor and Khonsu. Meanwhile, the northern part of the temple was dedicated to the falcon god Haroeris ("Horus the Elder"), along "with Tasenetnofret (the Good Sister, a special form of Hathor or Tefnet/Tefnut) and Panebtawy (Lord of the Two Lands)." The temple is atypical because everything is perfectly symmetrical along the main axis.

The texts and reliefs in the temple refer to cultic liturgies which were similar to those from that time period. The temple itself had a specific theology. The characters invoked the gods of Kom Ombo and their legend. Two themes were present in this temple: the universalist theme and the local theme. The two combine to form the theology of this temple. A temple was already built in the New Kingdom to honor these gods, however, this site gained in importance during the Ptolemaic Kingdom. Little remains of the New Kingdom temple. The existing temple was begun by Ptolemy VI Philometor (180–145 BC) at the beginning of his reign and added to by other Ptolemies, most notably Ptolemy XIII Theos Philopator (51–47 BC), who built the inner and outer hypostyles. The scene on the inner face of the rear wall of the temple is of particular interest, and "probably represents a set of surgical instruments."

Much of the temple has been destroyed by the Nile, earthquakes, and later builders who used its stones for other projects. Some of the reliefs inside were defaced by Copts who once used the temple as a church. All the temples buildings in the southern part of the plateau were cleared of debris and restored by Jacques de Morgan in 1893.

A few of the three hundred crocodile mummies discovered in the vicinity are displayed in The Crocodile Museum.

In September 2018, the Egyptian antiquities ministry announced that a sandstone sphinx statue had been discovered at the temple. The statue, measuring approximately 28 cm in width and 38cm in height, likely dates to the Ptolemaic Dynasty.

As we traverse further along the cliffs at the edge of the Cairn Gorm plateau we can clearly the way ahead and the final climb up to the prominent rocky summit of Cairn Gorm itself.

Cairn Gorm, the mountain from which the Cairngorm mountain range gets its name, stands at 1245 meters (4085 feet) and is my 4th Munro of the season, my 27th in total. The hike (no bike this time) sees me covering a circuit of just over 7 miles and making an elevation gain of around 762 meters (2500 feet).

Sure hope we all soon can comfortably see aerial views like this again! :)

On a cold fall day, a bighorn sheep chose to rest on a natural rock bench that had been heated by the sun. It was so content it was chewing its cud while soaking up the sunshine.

You may want to enlarge to see more detail of the sheep but I purposely shot for distance to get a better idea of the setting.

City of waters recognized since Roman Antiquity, Luchon experienced a real boom in the 19th century. Reorganized in 1761 by Baron d'Étigny, the thermal establishment regularly welcomes members of the court and very wealthy visitors. A new complex, designed by the architect Edmond Chambert and inaugurated in 1857, quickly attracted Napoleon III and the imperial family.

Thanks to the fashion for hydrotherapy which then prevailed and to the rediscovery of the region (celebrated in the literary “pyreneism” of Russel), Luchon soon experienced an influx of famous visitors (like Lamartine). The facilities and the care offer are constantly improving, the city is still gaining in fame and notoriety. The arrival of the train in 1873 and the construction of the casino in 1880 completed making the spa and climatic resort one of the key destinations for still upscale and international tourism.

Parliament gained a permanent home after Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as the capital in 1857. The Library building, designed in the High Victorian Gothic Revival style by Thomas Fuller and Chilion Jones, opened in 1876. Its circular shape and the use of galleries and alcoves were the inspiration of the first Parliamentary Librarian, Alpheus Todd. He recommended that the building be “spacious and lofty” and wisely advised that it be separated from the Centre Block by a corridor to protect it from fire 113

Mesa Verde National Park

The ruins blend so well into the cliffs that it's easy to miss the upper tier of ruins. Several of the sites at Mesa Verde have an upper tier such as can be seen here at Oak Tree House. I can't help but wonder how the inhabitants gained access. Probably it was by the use of ladders but I have been up 40 ft ladders and they sway so much in every direction that it's not something you'd never want to do daily or multiple times a day. The ledge also gets pretty narrow, in fact just down right sketchy, at that crack in the middle of the upper tier. I can't even imagine making that crawl. Probably these are just granaries and nobody actually stayed up there. Still, somebody had to go up there regularly to put food there after harvest and get it through the rest of the year.

One other thing I noticed about these ruins are all of the smoke stains on the rocks above the lower tier of ruins

Once the bridge started to pop through, I knew the morning was going to provide some unique images.

I was thumbing through the William Price "Western Maryland Steam Album" book with the intent of gaining some day dreaming time, instead I found myself pondering what it would be like to stand on Helmstetters curve when a big 4-8-4 Potomac class came up the grade. Most of my journey through railroad history (and my photo descriptions as a result) tend to lean into a yearn to see railroads in their glory years. This photo then popped into my mind. After being in service for 2 years, I just started shooting the 2102 at Reading and Northern that summer and fall. I did 3 outings to see the thing and enjoyed all of them. The 2102 is big enough to produce power, but not powerful enough to have a seamless run with whatever train you throw at it. The T-1s were built in house by the Reading company using some select parts recycled from other engines. Some call them "rebuilds" because of this. The T-1s were some of the biggest and baddest engines on the Reading minus the light mallets the road rostered. At the end of steam, 5 survived into Reading Rambles excursion service (with one being scrapped for parts during this time period before 1964). Since then they lived on in various states at various places. 2102 runs up the former Reading trackage into the anthracite region and over the former CNJ branch from Haucks to Jim Thorpe in the present day. The run has various grades, bridges, tunnels, and obstacles. North of Tamaqua the trackage starts a hefty climb up to Hometown where it crests downhill to Jim Thorpe. At mile marker 99, at the searchlights installed within the past 10 years, the train's dig into the grade has already begun. You can hear the beating on the rails from lightyears away, it becomes oh so closely sounding but continues to trick the mind. The bellless crossing next to the signals activates. Lights stream around the corner. Then the sounds, A long, a long, "OSJT, Clear signal, 99", a short, a long. The engine, shooting smoke at high velocity out the stack, thunders at the trees and removes their leaves. The approach lit SB signal lights up, rails squeel, the bridge takes on the weight of the engine... you can no longer hear anything... A static takes hold as the exhaust has produced enough sound to pierce your ears. Its loud but silent, the camera clicks away without a detectable sound. Decibels rise, you cannot hear yourself think. You take the camera down and get the friendly wave, they have ear plugs! The shrill passes and then slowly fades. The rail squeals as the clickety clacks fade back in like a studio mix on a 60s hippy song. Marker lights on the rear observation car conclude the show. The crossing lights conclude their flashing, the railfans scurry back to their cars and leave in a hurry, the signal goes back to darkness. Peace has returned to the Schuylkill Valley.

In the biblical narrative of the Books of Samuel, David is described as a young shepherd and harpist whose heart is devoted to Yahweh, the one true God. He gains fame and becomes a hero by killing Goliath. He becomes a favorite of Saul, the first king of Israel, but is forced to go into hiding when Saul suspects David of plotting to take his throne. After Saul and his son Jonathan are killed in battle, David is anointed king by the tribe of Judah and eventually all the tribes of Israel. He conquers Jerusalem, makes it the capital of a united Israel, and brings the Ark of the Covenant to the city. He commits adultery with Bathsheba and arranges the death of her husband, Uriah the Hittite. David's son Absalom later tries to overthrow him, but David returns to Jerusalem after Absalom's death to continue his reign. David desires to build a temple to Yahweh, but is denied because of the bloodshed of his reign. He dies at age 70 and chooses Solomon, his son with Bathsheba, as his successor instead of his eldest son Adonijah. David is honored as an ideal king and the forefather of the future Hebrew Messiah in Jewish prophetic literature, and many psalms are attributed to him.

There is a magic moment that exists between the end of day and the fall of night - in the Bornean rainforest this is signaled by the wailing of cicadas, with the deepening darkness abruptly revealing many things that were unseen in the light. Here, a cluster of Luminous Porecaps (Favolaschia manipularis) begin to show their innate greenish glow at dusk. It is believed that this bioluminescence plays a role in spore dispersal: in the still air of the rainforest understory these mushrooms gain and advantage by having wood-feeding insects (which are attracted to their light) carry the spore to new locations.
