Here is an artistic project I made during the recent "Gentleman's Fair". I drew and painted this vintage car (an American Pacer) only with Posca markers during several days. The background and shape of the drawings, the colors and patterns I have represented are clearly inspired by the American Pop Art culture to echo the Gentleman's Fair spirit, which is aimed at cool, passionate, elegant or hipster men. The fair is about the following themes: travel, design, cars, motorcycles, fashion, games, accessories, toys for boys, audio, video, art, health, technology, gastronomy, sports, watchmaking ...
This art project was a challenge because I did not have much time to finalize it. Posca are markers of acrylic paint based on water and pigments. I wear a mask to protect myself from possible evaporation.
The Gentleman's Fair attracts more than 100 exhibitors and over 10,000 visitors. This is an event that occurs every year in Waregem, Flanders, Belgium.
You can also enjoy there a delicious glass of whiskey in front of the fire, challenge your friends to the pool or enjoy a delicious cigar. Active, curious, fashion conscious or family man? Freak gadget, sports, hipster or bon vivant? The Gentleman's Fair is for all men who are confident and passionate about life.

I found this "Computer Humidity-Temperature calculator at the thrift store.
While I have had a lot of trouble with my current HP Pavilion Laptop overheating (causing the video driver to fail...not just once, but three times) I don't know how to use this gadget to calculate my overheating risks. It just looks cool.
Somewhere I have a pica wheel that converts inches to picas, a unit used in typesetting back in the old, old days of the 1970s and 1980s. I do know how to use that because I worked for years as a copy editor.

My lovely Nokia 7370... it is sad how much you can get attached to a phone, i'm such a marketing victim. I keep her(!) safe in her beautifull pouch that was included in the package.
Then the iPhone came out in Japan and changed all that - it was the only notable phone on the Japanese market at the time with a touch screen and decent computer connectivity.
I had used the iPhone since then and upgraded once to the iPhone 4S. Being a Mac user, the iPhone only increased my Apple Fanboi-ism. The iPhone enabled me to increase productivity in my daily workflow.
But while I still am a Mac user, the Apple magic has started to fade away. One of the reasons was the introduction of the very disappointing MacBook Pro Retina which I bought and returned immediately due to the screen resolution - not good at all for anybody working with web graphics - and no - its nothing to do with apps being Retina ready or not.
1024px x 768px images look tiny at native resolution - my clients dont want download sizes of images blown up just for Retina users.
Another reason is that as I became busier, I found myself wasting time getting information onto my iPhone. I work in the TV industry and deal with many file formats - I wasted time converting videos (waiting) and then transferring them to my iPhone via a cable. Everything had to go through iTunes! There were not even apps from Apple which did the converting meaning that one had to use tools like Video Monkey - is it still like this?
I also deal with sensitive images of unreleased figures, anime titles and wot not but images are all managed through iTunes - they all show up in the photo gallery which is not good either - I would get into heaps of trouble by my clients if somebody saw something they shouldn't - same with all the ecchi images too ^^
The iPhone started to become very restrictive for my workflow and so I switched to Android. I already reviewed my Samsung Galaxy S3 so today I will be talking about how its been using Android for over half a year and why I'm not one of the 80% who would recommend iPhone.

I've always wanted to do one of these. A small collection of the various gadgets I own- some retired, some not. Mouse over for the notes!
Ok, so it arrived yesterday and it is a Dell UltraSharp 2005FP - Flat Panel 20.1’. What can I say, it is just as wide as I thought it would be but the height is a bit disappointing, but that is really my fault, I never bothered to actually check that. Anyway it is super ok, the main point which is to have a bigger resolution than my laptop display (1400x1050) is fullfiled having 1680x1050, the ergonomics are great so are the colors, and absolutely no flaw (no dead or bad pixels).
New gadget for the D7000 is the Phottix Geo One GPS geo-tagger. This costs half the price of the Nikon GPS-1 and is pretty much identical apart from this one comes with the wired remote while the Nikon version you have to buy the remote separately.
You have to change one setting to stop the exposure meter timing out when the GPS unit is attached as it takes 45 seconds from cold to get a signal. Subsequent images are around 10 seconds from warm start.
