Glastonbury Abbey... After discovering the remains of King Arthur and Guinevere the abbot relocated the grave just beyond the main tower. Only a cynic would believe the finding of the once and future king's remains was a hoax in order to reboot the flagging coffers of the abbey after a fire. The remains were found in 1191.

It was fabulous to see both Arthur and Guinevere this morning. She was busy 'defending her turf' while Arthur was hunting.
It was so good to get out today, it did take a few shots to get back 'into the groove' but overall I am happy with the results of a very productive walk.
I will be back after I pick the children up from school to catch up.

I took some time out to wander down to Sneydes Rd. today, a most enjoyable walk in the sunshine.
As I was heading out of the Sneydes Rd. Paddock one of the Falcons from the Highway Paddock (1.8 Km to the north) arrived to hunt. I haven't seen Arthur or Guinevere around lately so maybe they have moved on.

I first spotted this Falcon coming from the north east as I walked along Hoppers Lane then lost sight of it. Once I reached Sneydes Rd. I had the choice of heading to the left around the side of the freeway off-ramp or to the right, not wanting to head directly through the paddock so as not to disturb the Tiger Snake again. Thankfully I went left and spotted it on a light pole next to the path. I don't know if it is the offspring of Arthur and Guinevere or not.

As I approached Sneydes Rd. today I spotted both Arthur and Guinevere but they were too far away for a shot. As I was taking the shot of the Fairy-wren I heard the familiar cackle and turned to see them fly past but had no hope of capturing a Falcon in flight one handed. As I came back onto Sneydes Rd. proper I spotted Arthur sitting on a light pole in the middle of the road, along with two Magpie Larks. I tried to get closer for a shot but the Larks decided it was time to move Arthur along. Thankfully after flying away from me he turned back and flew past me. Going at a rate of knots but in typical Falcon fashion was making it look so easy.

As I was coming home this morning I spotted Arthur and Guinevere sitting on a street light on Sneydes Rd. by the time I parked and grabbed the camera they had both taken off. I was happy to quickly grab this shot as everything was happening very quickly and I am very tired today.
Will catch up as I can, I have a couple of meetings this afternoon.

I had some time to go for a wander this morning in the welcome sunshine, at first it seemed there were no birds around at all and then suddenly there were birds everywhere!
Arthur was quite happy to sit back and watch the action as the Magpies and Little Ravens harassed a Wedge-tailed Eagle and a Black Kite. He did however come to his partner Guinevere's assistance when she became the target.

I decided to take a walk to Sneydes Rd. this morning, the first time in six weeks I have been down there. It was a cold and overcast morning but I am glad I went. Having got some images of the Pipits and Kestrel I looked along Sneydes Rd. to the tree beside the irrigation channel that Arthur and Guinevere often perch in. From the distance - about 800 metres, all could tell was that there were two birds perched. I hot footed it in that direction and to my delight Arthur was there with one of this years young. Thankfully they both stayed long enough for some images.

When I first spotted this Falcon I thought Arthur was coming to say hello, it has very similar markings to him. I then spotted Arthur and Guinevere (too far away for a usable image) back over the VU Paddock. While watching this one the second young one flew through to join the parents.
