This guard tower stands at the southeast corner of the old Territorial/State Prison in Deer Lodge, Montana. In 1867 the US Congress authorized monies for express purpose of building a prison in the newly formed, but largely lawless Montana Territory. The territorial government chose the ranch town of Deer Lodge for the prison. Construction started in 1870 on what was planed as a 3 tiered structure with fourteen cells per tier. But due to lack of material and high construction costs only one tier was originally built. The prison opened on July 2, 1871, when US Marshal William Wheeler took possession of the first nine prisoners. Finally in 1885 monies were appropriated in order to built a three story cellblock with 42 double-occupancy cells which opened in 1886. The Montana Territorial Prison was finally completed to original specifications, just in time to be handed over to the new State of Montana in March 1890. The prison remained open until 1979 when a new state prison was constructed outside of Deer Lodge.
Some say the old prison is haunted. Visitors report strange sounds and the sensation of being touched by invisible beings. Some say “Turkey Pete” Either still haunts cell number 1. Eitner spent 49 years incarcerated at the prison for murder before dying of natural causes in 1967. Some think the spirits of 2 inmates, who organized and died in the 1959 riot, still haunt the halls of the prison.
The prison was added to The Register of National Historic Places on September 3, 1976. Today the prison operates as part of a Museum complex in Deer Lodge. We didn’t tour the interior of the prison on this trip.

The Royal Guards (Swedish: Högvakten) is the King of Sweden's cavalry and infantry guards of honour of the Swedish Armed Forces, tasked with the protection of the Swedish royal family. The Royal Guard is normally divided in two parts, the main guard stationed at the Stockholm Palace, and a smaller detachment at Drottningholm Palace. The Royal Guards units has continuously guarded the Swedish royal family in Stockholm since 1523.
Between April and August, the mounted squadrons in light blue full dress uniforms and silver pickelhaube helmets and the companies in dark blue full dress uniforms with black pickelhaube helmets, both of the Life Guards, can be seen in Stockholm street parades and around the Royal Palace.

The largest structure on the administrative site is the guard station building. It even has a basement. It’s ready to go as a working guard station when the forest service needs it. Sometimes it has a volunteer acting as a caretaker. But we never saw anybody during our five day visit.

As the tea salon came to a close and Knyaginya Dashkova retired to her private apartments to inspect her son's history lesson, "Count Shurshin" revealed himself to be some sort of rebel, now threatening the safety of both court and the Empress personally, shouting nonsense about Polish invasion, all whilst taking as many refreshments as possible!
Vitze-Kantzler was quick to call in guards, and the young Alexandra von Engelhardt under Grenadiers' protection was swiftly escorted out of the salon. The intruder was arrested and will await strict "investigation" soon.

The Royal Regiment of Horse Guards was a cavalry regiment of the British Army, part of the Household Cavalry.
The parade ground is open on the west side, where it faces Horse Guards Road and St. James's Park. It is flanked on the north by the Old Admiralty and the Admiralty Citadel, on the east by William Kent's Horse Guards – formerly the headquarters of the British Army.
One of the bucks generally stayed up besides the dugout, likely as a guard. I spotted them first lying down farther away in the stubble of a canola field. We parked on an approach which happened to be besides a well vegetated dugout by the road. Three bucks started walking towards us and I was wondering why but they stopped to check things out, then disappeared down into the dugout for several minutes. The others, accompanied by two more bucks started moving closer. They stopped to eat in a pile of spilled canola seeds, then moved towards the dugout as well. Many seemed hesitant to go down. While some bucks led the way down, one animal, generally a buck, remained watching at the top. I have several photos where a buck comes back half way up, near a doe who hasn’t made up her mind to go down, then she makes up her mind and he follows or leads. When everyone was done drinking, they regrouped at the top, grazed a bit on what seemed to be canola stems or weeds, then started walking North after a startled moment caused by a truck starting up, after having stopped to watch them. Mating season for pronghorn antelopes is generally described as September but one reference mentions that it lasts from September through October. Bucks gather harems of females and protect them from other male pronghorns. Many times they get into battles with each other over the female pronghorn. Early cold weather means an early rut. It seems usual for pronghorns to form mixed herds of bucks and does for the winter.(wikipedia). These bucks were the only animals still carrying their horns, and still acted as protectors of the herd of females and 2 (or 3) fawns. One smelled a doe’s urine so there may still be unmated does in this band. No fighting between bucks while we watched. They seemed to act cooperatively to protect the herd, encourage does and fawns to come and drink, etc. Part of a herd of 19 Pronghorns. I was wondering why they were so unafraid during hunting season. A bit of research indicated that zone 18 was not open this year for antelope hunting. South of the turnoff to Gray, HWY 6 S. In the Kaleem Zam'qnar lands the Guards more and more often encountered 2 or 3 man Blood Orcs scouting groups. Usually they eliminated them quickly. However their appearance caused anxiety. The orcs have not been seen here for over 100 years. At the Watchtower on far, far east of the Kaleem Zam'qnar lands we can see a drama. The group of redskins is much bigger than the previous ones. And the Guardian is all alone there...
