The griffin, griffon, or gryphon is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and sometimes an eagle's talons as its front feet.
In Greek and Roman texts, griffins and Arimaspians were associated with gold deposits of Central Asia. Indeed, as Pliny the Elder wrote, „griffins were said to lay eggs in burrows on the ground and these nests contained gold nuggets“.

ZJ704 underwent its 'D check' at Cobham Helicopter Academy, Newquay Airport between Summer 2019 and October 2020. It was pulled outside for a series of ground runs and test flights during October/November before finally leaving by road on the 20th Nov 2020.

Such a marvellous sign -- it's a shame such a gem is gone. I understand why, though.
According to what I read online, The Griffin Bar apparently ran into trouble after a white supremacist incident occurred there, damaging its reputation when the dive bar owners didn't do enough, according to the community, to disavow what happened. The end result was that it closed for a while, reopened, but then the bar was shut down again and sold. The name -- and that gorgeous neon sign -- were then gone. I'm guessing the new owners wanted no trace to remain of the former establishment.
I hope the sign was saved.

I went out this afternoon to get some pics from a place I had never been before, got lost, snow was way to deep, found myself surrounded by thick spruce forest with a fantastic sunset going on, headed back to the car. On the way back I did a test with a new filter setup for long exposures. It works really well for longies, but because of the sunset i still don’t know if it has a colour cast or not...

NS train #180 shoves a cut of 20 cars into the small yard at Griffin, GA while local power stands by. Storms from 'Alberto' rage on in the background and the sun here in Griffin would soon disappear due to another intense deluge.
