I think this is the first time at Mentor Graphics that I got to see (or hear, it was a loud "rattle") a Belted Kingfisher. Certainly my first shot at taking a photo of one there.
It was moving around quickly and generally not in good photo range, so I made this mosaic of one perching quiet place as a keepsake. It was quite active; dove into the water (don't know if it caught anything) and went up into various trees.
Don't know what the entrance is for because I stopped playing here but it is definitely impressive!

Patricia Bay is a body of salt water that extends East from the Saanich Inlet and forms part of the North Saanich shoreline in British Columbia. The bay was named after Princess Patricia of Connaught, daughter of the Duke of Connaught who was Governor General in 1912.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.
On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.
These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, and having moved from professional Nikon equipment to consumer bodies and lenses, I travel light less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 21.062+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

And it is way dark even an hour later the sky
has not cooperated one bit. Evil Gray Sky !
So what does that mean you ask ?
That means very few if any usable
photos were taken this morning !
The MCF was bone dry not
even the mornings dew !
Anyway Mr. Monkey The MoJo Man
and Ms Pumpkin Pie The Princess
ran around doing what they do.
67 minutes in field, then we
packed up and headed home.
Dogs weren't very dirty
still they were given
a soapy bath, then
fed and off 2 bed.
Moral of the story is ---
Some days are always better than others.
Maybe we can try again later in the week.

Photograph taken at an altitide of Six hundred and five metres at 09:29am on Tuesday 10th September 2019 off the Crowsnest Highway 3 between South Okanagan grasslands protected area and Osoyoos Lake, at Spotted Lake in Osoyoos, British Columbia, Canada.
Spotted lake is asaline endorheic alkali lake situated in the Similkameen valley of BC conating depoits of magnesium sulphate, calcium and sodium sulpahtes, silver and titanium. In the summer months due to evaporation circles of mineral deposits are outlined in the lake to stunning effect. The lake is known as Kliluk to first nations people who purchased and protected the lake in October 2001. It is now fenced off and first nations people ask that visitors do not enter the land, or at least respect it.
Of all the days to visit Spotted lake, it had to be raining and overcast! So sadly there was little to see of the amazing circles and colours, reason enough I guess for me to one day return in Spring or summer.

Gocco fever!
This time I'm cross-breeding medium, as the powerpole image is gocco'd onto extra-wide vintage grosgrain ribbon, then the wires and the birds are embroidered on. (I'm thinking these will be interesting patches - I'm making 8 total).

Beautiful pre Photoshop graphics. Read these at school 50 years ago. Absolutely packed with information and fantastic hand drawn graphics. Works of art in themselves. I picked up all 12 volumes of 12 magazines for £10.00 on eBay year or so ago. All in mint condition.
