WHAT ARE EUROPEAN ALTERNATIVES TO GOOGLE AND FACEBOOK?
Digital Backyards | International Conference
October 18th-20th at Kunstquartier Bethanien | Berlin
berlinergazette.de/digital-backyards/
Are there any alternatives to an increasingly centralized internet landscape as cultivated by Google and Facebook? It is hard to imagine, but there are. The resources for such alternatives lie dormant in Europe’s diversity itself: tinker garages, corporate hotbeds, grassroots hubs, institutional labs, hacker bedrooms, editorial outposts etc. In those digital backyards innovators have been silently pursuing their work. Now they come together from all over Europe to explore synergies and common interests.
The conference is partitioned into a semi-open „Networking Lounge“ and „Public Talks“ that are accessible to a broad audience.

A touring gigposter show we organized from start to finish. Including the design of our limited edition show poster. Five bucks got you access to 100's of posters designed by prominent artists around the globe, 3 live music performances, and all the donated beer you could drink. Over 600 people attended on opening night. Over 2,000 in 2 weeks. Proof that cheap beer can accomplish anything.

My other The Graphic / Expert puzzle. It was the first old puzzle I bought. Years ago we were on holiday in the UK and I had seen it in an antique toy museum. The owner was a reluctant to sell it, but I managed to buy it. Rather expensive, but I had fallen in love with it.
Up till then I only had some antique wooden push fit (and colour line cut) from my fathers family, which I loved. This puzzle Camille, was lovely to make, but very easy. I still love it nevertheless. So this puzzle was sort of the start of my collection.
The puzzle is called Camille, no artist name. It has 132 pieces and is beautifully colour line cut. I didn't mention the size. It has the original box.

Graphic Flutterer (Rhyothemis graphiptera). We were mezmerized by this gorgeous dragonfly. It floated delicately on the breeze above our heads and we watched it for at least 10 minutes. Thankfully, it perched close enough and for long enough for me to get a shot. What a stunner! [Cumberland Plain, NSW]
