The Herring Gull picked off this unsuspecting Atlantic Puffin and tried to make off with the tasty meal. But to no avail. The puffin, you all will be glad to know, escaped the wily clutches of the ferocious gull.

The Long-horned Bee was close enough that the Flower Crab Spider grabbed the Bee with its strong front legs! The Bee attempted to sting the spider and had enough forward momentum that he was able to escape the clutches of the spider. The Bee then made several flybys and buzzed the spider. This made me laugh as the Bee was very angry that the spider would to try to eat him. The Bee then went back to foraging for pollen and the spider crawled under the petals.

Her: Be quick, we need to get out of here!

Him: Wait this is heavy!!

Ein altes Familiengrab auf dem Johannisfriedhof in Zeitz.

An old family grave in the Johannisfriedhof in Zeitz.

For a brief couple of minutes on this morning's dog walk there was the most wonderful light from a mix of relatively low sun and a bank of dark cloud.

Could have done without the wire fencing which marks the extent of the land associated with the latest lot of new-builds on the edge of Alnwick, but there you go!

The shot was taken at 59th and Central Park North in Manhattan. Those people were running out of one of the Time Warner Center towers flic.kr/p/NEKVWt

as I was trying to take a shot of the skyline.59th St is one of the few locations in Manhattan where one can catch a view of the skyline from the street. Most of the buildings shown here are residential,a few are hotels.Central Park is just across the street from them. The small white building (far right) is an art and design museum, and one of the few museums in the city that allows visitors to take photos.I took the shot as I was walking to a nearby subway station to go home,I had a loooong day 😩

Spring warblers continue to elude me, so here's a shot I took two years ago today, that I haven't previously posted.

Macro Monday - Pink

I know I've posted a lot of pink macro flowers lately but I only managed a photo today as my macro lens was on my camera which was on the tripod. So it didn't involve a lot of bending and moving around.

I just grabbed this carnation from a bunch of flowers I picked up at the supermarket last week.

The Omni stretch glass was still attached to the lens so a little extra softness on the left hand side. HMM

Kids shure have a way of getting your attention!

This section of Wi Hwy 42 at the tip of Door County Peninsula is quite possibly the most photographed section of roadway in the state. It looks quiet now but believe me it was anything but when we were there last week. When we arrived, there were already a half-dozen vehicles pulled off to the side to view and shoot, people in the middle of the road dodging near constant traffic. We waited and waited, finally five left and we leapfrogged the remaining one to grab this quick shot before a new vehicle leapfrogged in front of us. It was not a completely clean grab, there was a vehicle at the far end that I erased. Same with a power line, but I left the mailbox and realtor sign.

I have seen a few of this scene and most all take out the power line but the verdict is split on whether to leave the mailbox.

While taking a few photos of this busy Pileated Woodpecker I only noticed when the photos were uploaded the wood boring beetle grub (marked) it found and ate.

Just a local scene in during the Fall season.

A green heron grabs a small fish as it prowls the shore of the Arboretum Pond at the For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, July, 2021.

While on my way north I couldn’t resist not grabbing some shots with the fresh snow on the trees. One spot I’ve had in mind for a while was an over pass just south of the North Billerica depot. With Keolis outbound train #311 nearing it was a good option. I noticed it was late but I still headed out to set up and to my surprise a geometry extra was making its way with recently rebuilt F40 leading the way as they split the automatics. Painting this Blue Spotted Coral Reef fish was such a pleasure. I found myself smiling as it found its way onto the watercolor paper.

Whilst bouncing up and down on the boat and returning to the mainland this cormorant (I think) came swooping down. Rather than duck (no pun intended) I grabbed this one shot and even though it is clearly out of focus it has a certain something that I find quite likeable.
