The brief and questions I gave myself for this project were:

if I truly had to design my very own craft what would I want it to look like?

As a pilot, what kind of tech would I want to see in the cockpit?

What real life scenario could I incorporate making it a unique experience?

If I needed it repaired/ refueled, would I have the correct gear?

Could I build in real safety features?

What if I crashed in a remote place and needed to survive?

Can I challenge myself from a builders persepctive using parts that hardly ever come out to play?

Could I revisit my stickering techniques on such a small build?

My answers were:

I wanted something that visually had a very aerodynamic shape that looked like it was moving even when stationery, it had to have a unique "skin" that set it apart from any of my previous builds. Plus been a Starfighter, it had to be equipped with lots of weapons, that could shoot any enemy in any direction. If I wanted to be able to end a mission I could just inject and still tell the tale to my mates. My wishlist for this very personal project was, make it truly mine!

Over 80 hours of building and experimental phases was a challenge, only as its 16 x 35 studs and 9-in height, made it rather difficult to integrate not only the many play features but the final balance display stand. Ive truly enjoyed the Jam, guys you are all my hero`s, such a wonderful creative bunch. Thank you kindly to the organization of this great contest! Over &-Out

Dahlias are worldwide considered of the most popular and spectacular garden flowers.

They are natives of the sandy hillsides of Mexico, Central America, and northwestern South America.

Dahlias were cultivated by the Aztecs, taken to Europe by the Spaniards in the 18th century, and soon spread throughout the world in widely different climates. There are at least 36 species of dahlia and over 20,000 cultivars. There is a great variety of form in dahlias.

This picture was taken in De Passiflorahoeve in Harskamp, the Netherlands.

Info: www.passiflorahoeve.nl/

Bodie Island Lighthouse is one of a series of lights that were built along North Carolina's Outer Banks. Think of a lighthouse as the original GPS... along with the Sun and stars, these lighthouses were fixed points, visible both day and night, that ships' captains would navigate from to avoid the deadly shoals off North Carolina's coast. It is not for no reason that the area off Cape Hatteras is called "The Graveyard of the Atlantic"... these lighthouses saved lives! Bodie Island Lighthouse started service on October 1, 1872. Since that day, it has had a relatively serene existence, despite the occasional hurricane, nor'easter, and the harsh salt environment of the coast... but time takes its toll on everything. After many years of restoration, Bodie Island Lighthouse opened this April (2013) to visitors inside the structure for the first time in its near 141 year history.

The National Park Service, who looks after the lighthouse now, conducts the tours in an orderly way. The group I was with all met in a small room at the base of the lighthouse where we were lectured on the "rules" before we made our way to the top of the structure. We had a fairly eclectic group with many families... some were from Ohio, Wisconsin, and Florida, and there were a group of Mennonites on vacation as well, all crammed in this room, learning mostly what not to do. "Not to do": no running, no stamping of feet, no loud talking, etc., but the coup de grâce was "no sliding down the banisters!"

For reasons I fully understand, the park service, for the first time as a public service to our beachgoing public, also explained about rip currents, also known as rip tide. I've been caught in one... it carries you out to sea, but only so far. It's nearly impossible to swim against it... you ride it out, swim parallel to the shore and swim back. Sounds easy, but a lot of folks drown trying to fight it. So the park service is effectively being proactive about it at every venue where they have a captive audience, and I say "good for them." But if you know me at all, you know I can't leave well enough alone in a situation like that... our guide asked at his conclusion, "Any questions or thoughts?" "Yes", I could hear myself saying, "If we encounter a rip current up there, I'm sliding down the banister!" Everybody laughed, but not so hard as the Mennonites. Seems I love a captive audience as well! It reminded me of my short, but colorful career as an Amish comedian... but that's a story for another time.

In this image, I made it down the structure before anyone else (I behaved, and did not slide down the banister), set the camera for delay at 0.8-second exposure, set it in the middle of the floor and walked away... I love the blur of people making their way back down.

In December 2015, Lockheed Martin’s first GPS III satellite for the U.S. Air Force, Space Vehicle 01 (SV01), completed system-level Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testing, validating the design of the entire assembled satellite. TVAC is a rigorous test designed to prove a satellite’s integrity and operational capabilities by subjecting it to prolonged cycles of simulated space temperature extremes in a special depressurized chamber.

Note to whom it may concern: As a member of the Philippine Bus Enthusiasts Society (PhilBES) and its junior and affiliate group, the Philippine Bus Photographers Association (PBPA), both of which are communities/groups of bus and coach enthusiasts and amateur photographers, that focus on bus companies' history, technical specifications of vehicles, and other related subject matter, that is based in the Philippines, I would like inform you that the number plate of the bus on this photo has been blurred out to prevent it being used as evidence by any agencies, whether be it privately-owned or government-owned, to apprehend the said vehicle or the operating company of the vehicle on the photo at times when the said vehicle may be involved in any motoring mishap, incident, or accident. This is to prevent the involvement of myself, and/or any members of the groups stated to any such cases or the hassles and possible dangers presented with being involved at such cases. I would also like to stress out that I am NOT a part nor am I affiliated or connected in any way with any bus companies inside or outside the country. At times when you may experience any of employees of the operating company of the bus on the photo behave in an offensive manner; such that of reckless driving, lack of manners towards the passengers, incorrect and excessive charging of fare, and any other offenses they may commit, I do advise you report them to their respective managements for further action.

However, despite the limitation I stated earlier about the use of my photos, any person is free to download and use any of my photos to any general or civilian use such as advertisement and other promotional use, school works, or personal interests about the subject.

One of our kite colleagues brought one of his his toys for a fly around at Otterspool. This one has been fitted with gps system and will return to the operator by itself if the battery starts to run down.

These can be used for aerial photography and can be quite expensive.

Could somebody, especially the physics/weather gurus explain this please?

Is that a UFO GPS landing director?
