I designed these caps in 2003 to send to my liberal buddies. The design is a combination of the GOP elephant symbol and the ENRON "E". I'm surprised by how many people "get it" when they see me wearing it. I'm considering having more made and selling them, but I'm too lazy to sell them. I'll just end up giving them all away again.
Former Texas Governor Ann Richards saw me wearing mine at Whole Foods Market in 2004 and asked if I'd drop one by her condo. I obliged her with two. A year later I saw her again at Whole Foods and asked her if she got them--since she never thanked me--and she replied in a voice that sounded like the Shore Patrol breaking up a floating crap game: "Yayss, ah day-yid! And Ah gay-y-y-y-yve one to mah sawwwwww-w--w-wn!"

Antiwar demonstrators march behind an elephant pulling a coffin at the Republican Convention in Miami, Fl., August 21, 1972.
The protests drew no more than 5,000 but were marked by their attempted suppression by President Richard Nixon and repeated clashes with police.
Prior to the demonstration, the FBI spread the rumor that the demonstration would be encircled and all attending would be imprisoned.
Once at the site, the protesters were confronted with police spoiling for a fight. On the last night of the demonstrations, police cars were passing the protesters’ camp at Flamingo Park and out of control police hurled rocks, tear gas and other projectiles at demonstrators.
The protests at the GOP convention marked one of the last confrontations of the Vietnam War era.
Five months later, the last major national demonstration against the war took place at Nixon’s second Inauguration in January 1973.
