I recently had an opportunity to experience the Van Gogh exhibit in Los Angeles. It was amazing to see and I recommend it to all who get the chance. This photo is the entrance to the exhibit and I couldn't resist sharing!

Dutch Post-Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh, painting the view from his asylum window in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence just before sunrise, although it is an idealized and imagined scene.

"Starry Night" is celebrated for its expressive, swirling sky, flame-like cypress tree, and tranquil village, and it has become a cornerstone of Western art history, residing in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.

Despite Van Gogh himself considering the work a failure, it is now regarded as one of his greatest achievements and one of the most recognized paintings in the world.

I usually feel the need to to pay homage to van Gogh at least once each summer by purchasing a few sunflowers for a photoshoot. It seemed good idea this sunny August day.

I love his work; his life interests me, too.

Lake Lagunitas on the Stanford campus is usually drained in the summer and filled in winter. A rainbow is not usually sitting over it. Unusual day. Even Van Gogh came out for a look!

The story has many accounts on Google search.

Briefly, the couple who own the property have a son who has Autism and when he views the Starry Night color theme of Van Gogh it calms him, so they commissioned a local artist to paint the wall surrounding the house in the artist's famed work.

Following of course was city code enforcement which said it was graffiti and they were told to repaint it, which they did not, but went to court with much support from many people and won,. They then proceeded to have the entire hose painted to match and here is the result. I love art and am very pleased with the outcome, some may have a different opinion. " Starry Night " everyone ! !

From a Van Gogh Exhibition in Toronto a few years ago.

Vincent Willem van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was a Dutch post-impressionist painter. His work had a great influence on modern art because of its striking colours and emotional power.Vincent produced his self-portraits because he wanted to practise painting people. The majority of them – over 25 – were done while he was in Paris (1886–88). He was short of money in that period and struggled to find models. So the artist chose the simplest solution and painted himself.

Soulis: Vincent Van Gogh: Starry Night (June, 1889).

This is probably the most popular painting of the great Dutch master. It was finished near the mental asylum of Saint-Rémy, France, 13 months before Van Gogh's untimely death at the age of 37.

I was really elated to be able to take this photo of the original, without flash, at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. After about 131 years, the painting has substantially faded (Starry Night). I took the liberty of throwing in some light and strengthening the colors to get a bit closer to the brilliance, but not exactly the original Van Gogh palette, it once enjoyed. Here it is again with colors closer to the original palette.

Thank you!

The mill originally had two wheels, and was depicted a couple of times by Vincent van Gogh in November 1884 from this vantagepoint. Not sure the shopping cart has been around that long though ;-)

Wishing you all a very Happy Sliders Sunday!
