Sunset light there in the Valley of the Gods

Was blessed with some great clouds and light in the Valley of the Gods on this visit to southern Utah. Needed about 20 Flickr friends with me at this setting, as it was pretty in every direction.

The formations there in the Valley of the Gods are pretty amazing.

Godafoss (The Waterfall Of The Gods) is Iceland’s most impressive and beautiful waterfall.

Its name is associated with the country’s history. Having been settled on the 9th and 10th centuries, the Norse pagan religion was dominant. With the growth of Christianity throughout Europe, the pressure to abandon Norse increased to the point that Iceland feared an invasion. In 1000 AD it adopted Christianity as the official religion and the decision maker made the symbolic gesture of throwing the pagan idols into the waterfall. Hence its name since then: The Waterfall Of the Gods.

End of the day there in the Valley of the Gods.

Had a wonderful sunset and into the night along this gravel road in the Valley of the Gods, located in southeast Utah. It was so quiet and peaceful there into the night, a break from the hot windy day that had proceeded this time.

This view caught my eye as I was heading along the road in the dark caught my eye as the moon vanished behind the large rock formations.

This all followed a wonderful steak and beer at the Swingin Steak House located in quiet Mexican Hat, Utah. A must stop and eat if you like meat :)

Our trip continues now farther into the west and little farther south ... into Arizona.

Gods Ice Sculptures...

Karen and I took a day trip to Jack Darling park venturing into the Rattray Marsh Protected Wetlands. the marsh has a mile and a half of railed boardwalk that meanders its way through the marsh; giving visitors an unobstructed view of the area and yet protecting the flora and fauna from being trampled.

This is a shot of A piece of wood covered in ice and glistening in the sunlight.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

This is a view from the cliff top at the seven sisters on the Sussex coast in England, the person is a friend of mine , what drew me to this was that cloud acting like a finger from God!

“But gods are born of ichor and nectar, their excellences already bursting from their fingertips. So they find their fame by proving what they can mar: destroying cities, starting wars, breeding plagues and monsters. All that smoke and savor rising so delicately from our altars. It leaves only ash behind.”

Really liked the light here and the compression zooming in at 105mm.

What a great road through some great scenery in southern Utah.

The Valley of the Gods is similar in appearance to the much better known and more touristically developed Monument Valley and has comparable sandstone towers and sea stacks.

According to Navajo mythology, the rock formations are places of strength where ancestral spirits dwell, especially in the Valley of the Gods. The distinctive sandstone towers are petrified warriors of the tribe who can be invoked for personal protection. They represent bodyguards whose power and strength accompanies the young men on their way to war.

Tune: Ancient Egyptian Music - Horus

“I, Horus, son of Osiris, claim the throne of the heavens as my birthright!" he shouted."What was once mine shall be mine again. Is there anyone who would challenge me?"

The gods flickered and glowed. A few scowled. ”
