Air roots of a Marsh Cypress

(These trees usually grow in swampy places, which are under water during certain periods of the year. The air roots, which are sticking out of the water, help to survive during heavy floods.)

The day of our annual shopping and ladies lunch with my sister, our bestie and our Mom. Only no shopping this year. Lunch and a gift exchange today. We have been doing this for almost a dozen years now and it is still a favorite holiday tradition. I got them each one of these little guys for their gift this year. It is always fun shopping for some cute Christmas decorations for them all! So glad my Mom is still able to join us as I know she has always enjoyed being a part of it.

Happy Monday and I hope you all have a fun week ahead!

In Norway, the Nisse as they are known bring gifts to children who leave a bowl of porridge for them on Christmas Eve.

Handmade for Me theme---Crazy Tuesday

Made for me by a daughter who knits, she has a whole table full of knit gnomes.

A new creation this year, crocheted by Niqui, is this Scandinavian Gnome (also known as a Tomte), sporting a rather fetching Rudolph The Reindeer hat. I particularly love the quizzical look on Rudolph's face.

Almost a hundred years old.... Our Gnome has always been with us for over forty years... He has been passed down through the family, and yes our own family will look after Him in the future....

Best of the season to all my Flickr friends. I've enjoyed seeing your pics through the year!

Once I'm through with the dinner, you can find me on Twitter

Ha Ha Ha Hee Hee Hee, I'm the laughing gnome and you can't catch me!

This gnome was here when we bought the house over 40 years ago. You never see him move but he does get around. I caught him digging these Halloween gourds out of the ground and tossing them up on the stoop to make a display. I never saw him move, but later he had completed the display in the previous photo and I was well pleased with his work.

At last the long wait is over. The much anticipated HBO series Game of Gnomes returns tonight and we will finally find out.....What?.....Game of Thrones?.....Never mind.....

In the redwood forest near Felton, California.

Curiosity got the better of her and she decided to in for a peek. In the blink of an eye, the little adventurer was gone and never returned. I searched high and lo , but as it turns out this door was an entrance only. There does exist a matching door in another land and it is the only exit. I wonder what kind of journey she will take and when we will see her again... I sure will miss her.

But I am certain she will show up on our flickr streams again someday, in an enchanting world far away from here.

Door inspired by the keeper of the matching door. :)

Step into a world of magic!

It has been unseasonably warm, so Fionna and I went for a walk. We came upon this strange little door and she was sure she heard tiny voices coming from inside.

Apparently this is a worry gnome. You're supposed to whisper your worries to it each night and place it under your pillow. I'm not sure what's supposed to happen after that. I bought it as a while back as I thought it would make an easy PoD and unlikely I'll be whispering anything to it. After all I leave my worries on my doorstep and direct my feet on the sunny side of the street.

ANSH117 #10 "A little world"

This is a collection of miniature garden gnomes I discovered on a walk around my neighborhood. It is rather heavily cropped due to my not noticing some not family friendly gnomes off to the left side until I started editing this.

“More than 30 years after its closure, the concrete ‘islands’ that held the structures along the Manchester Ship Canal remain. It was on one such island that in 2017 a single gnome arrived.

GNORMAN, a trailblazer of sorts, arrived on the abandoned concrete island in 2017 and claimed it as his GNOMESTEAD. Joining her husband shortly after was GNORMA, at which point the dwarfish dominion was well and truly established. Within no time, the cone-hatted couple welcomed twins, GNOAH and GNATALIE, and enlisted the much-needed help of GNORMAN’S parents GNELLIE and GNORBERT, who still live with the happy family.

As with many family homes, the island is visited yearly by its very own gnomish Santa Claus over the Christmas period and the pintsized colony continues to grow. GNODDY and GNEDDY, a same-sex gnome couple who moved to the island in 2020 were heavily damaged during an act of vandalism”.

I was in the garden with my camera when I caught this gnome making off with a bouquet. You never know when a camera will come in handy. 😲
