Before a Pillcam capsule is taken, an absorbable patency version is administered. If it gets through the whole bowel, one can be confident that the real one won't get trapped. In a very few cases, though, it does. That's what happened in this case due to marked thickening of the intestinal wall and narrowing of the lumen resulting from Crohn disease.

This seed is compatible with a tomato seed due to its size and shape and due to the characteristics of the storage cells and embryonic cells (located in the central area of the photo, in the shape of a comma). The structure of the seed coat characterized by an eosinophilic, compact inner layer, and a frayed outer layer with a peripheral hairy or pellucid zone, is also characteristic of tomato seeds.

Dentists often refer to a notion with utmost belief that ‘there is a strong link between oral health and #happiness’. Based on this very same notion, a study was conducted. This project was named ‘Smile Intensity in Photographs Predicts Longevity’. Researchers, through this study, found out that top performing and satisfied students happened to seem happy and smiling in the high school yearbook photos. Consequently, the students who weren’t very satisfied seemed quid sad in those photos. After the research, an idea was also promoted. This idea relates to the reinforcement of feelings of happiness when a person smiles.

The healthy bacteria

While many people believe that #bacterial presence in the human body is something dangerous, it is not the case. As a matter of fact, there are many types of bacteria which are essential for human life. Scientists often refer to these bacteria as Gut Floras that reside in the GI tract. Scientists believe that feelings of happiness can be boosted with the supply of Gut Flora. Now this is to be kept into consideration that GI tract includes oral cavity which serves as the entry point. And given the fact that healthy smile promotes happiness, one can conclude that healthy bacteria must contribute well in keeping the oral health intact. The healthy and ideal distribution of Gut Flora in entire GI tract is not only good for the overall health but it also brings happiness.

Things to do to keep things in balance

Studies in different ages have suggested that individuals remain pretty happy when their #teeth are clean, healthy and well-aligned. Therefore, maintaining good #oral #health is the first thing you need to take into consideration if you want to achieve the best of your overall health. Having that said, there are a few things that you can do.

•You need to work on basic things first in order to keep things in order from very start. Therefore, brushing and flossing everyday right according to recommendation should be on the top of your to-do list. Nevertheless, you should avoid using mouthwash because most of them are alcohol-rich, and that they can cause oral cancer.

•Accorder to researchers, decline in mood is greatly linked with the imbalances of #GItract. Therefore, this area should be kept in focus in order to keep things in balance.

•One thing that can weaken the immune system in a way nothing does is stress. Apart from this drawback, stress also gives you the sugar craving which can lead to the damaging of oral health. Therefore, you should engage yourself in some de-stressing exercises in order to stay away from dangerous medical conditions.

•When it comes to maintaining oral health and the health of GI tract, a lot depends upon what your dietary habits are. Therefore, make sure that the food you eat is healthy and nutritious. Stay in contact with your family doctor in order to know about the foods that you can take for the best of your health.

Apart from healthy habits, make sure that you are visiting your dentist twice in every year. This visit will help you avoid and get rid of the dental and oral complications before things would start getting worse.

Yet another photo from my VERY BORING LIFE - exams in just over a month!

I have to drink this laxative, and fast, in preparation for a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Not pleasant!

Yes, that is actually the string hanging from the poor dog's mouth. Thank goodness her owner's didn't wait to bring her in. Surgery was a success and she made a complete recovery. She didn't need to have any of her intestines resected.

The following information was mostly obtained from Dr. Raul S. Gonzalez’s article “Lanthaum Carbonate Deposition” in Pathology Outlines (tinyurl.com/rm62qq9).

Lanthanum carbonate is an oral phosphate binder used to treat hyperphosphatemia in patients with end stage renal disease undergoing dialysis. This medication can be deposited throughout the GI tract mucosa, most commonly in the stomach. It appears as aggregates of brown, purple to red amorphous material; usually within histiocytes. It can be mistaken for iron. Occasional fragments may be Prussian Blue +. Involved mucosa may be intact or eroded. Deposition may be detected for many years after cessation of therapy and may be detected radiographically. The identity of this material can be confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry.
