Due to heavy poaching, I am not disclosing where this beautiful curvy unicorn lives. She gave me some of her valuable time and some incredible images.
Taken on a very rainy day, somewhere in Africa
Their relationship is complex. Pabi aka Sasquatch was terrified of chimpkin (chicken) lover when she first entered his life at a mighty four pounds with pin teeth and a giant attitude. As she bit his giant hands and body slammed him Pabi would run and hide. It took months for her to win him over. He does know his role in the pack it’s “underling” .

Led Zeppelin chante Stairway to heaven.

ON THE GENTLE GIANT SUMMIT *
Between heaven and earth…
The summit of the Gentle Giant.
An expanse of frozen silence
No sign of the human artificial universe
Not even vegetation
So few rocks.
A raw nature that defies human landmarks.
A world of fantastic tales,
From those who inhabit the imagination of children.
These impossible universes in which we dream of living.
But for what reasons would one want to live here?… If not to spend an unforgettable moment with oneself? ... Where to shoot a sequel to the Wizard of OZ movie?
Because, in front of me, in this cloudy cluster, the Universe is coming to meet me
And he doesn't care about my moods ...
I hear my spirit begging me to run away!
I search in vain for the right words
To describe the intensity of this magical and tragic world at the same time
But slowly in my head a familiar tune makes its way
Led Zeppelin sings Stairway to heaven.
Premonitory, isn't it? I slowly climbed this staircase ...
… And there is no way I will miss the rest!

* This image and its text are the result of very diverse influences. Thanks to Sylvain Tesson, writer and explorer for his incomparable life stories, to those who dedicate their talents to the wonder of children (The Wizard of Oz…) as well as to Gentle Giant and Led Zeppelin, two legendary rock groups who, they too, have amazed a generation. None of them would have imagined, one day, sharing the same scene with the others!
Ebbie the Newfoundland. Bred to save drowning victims,, these dogs actually have webbed feet. A Newfoundland was actually "Nana" in Peter Pan.
A few days before Ed's 10th birthday, we learned he had cancer. The prognosis was bad and the treatment options, in my opinion, worse. Faced with a very difficult decision, we looked to Ed himself to see what his take on the situation was and were met with a very loud and clear "I'm not done with you two clowns yet!!" So we moved forward with chemo. Today we are done and he's come through with 'flying colours'.
The point is, we all know life can change in an an instant. As we plunge headfirst into the insanity of the holiday season, this is just another subtle reminder always take a little extra time for those you love, whether on two legs or four ...
Wishing each of you a wonderful Sunday and beginning of the holidays :)
Don’t let the muscle fool you, Loki is pure sunshine and snuggles. Beneath that strong boxer exterior lies the most thoughtful, loving soul you could ever meet. Always ready to play, always making friends, he’s our gentle giant, through and through.
He truly lives up to the man’s best friend title. Seeing him happy and relaxed after a good round of play is my favorite thing. He is the best reminder to always lead with kindness.
Not interested in modelling for the camera, looking towards my husband who is holding the cookies as her reward for posing! Tillie is almost 12yrs now. This was taken on a recent winter camping trip that we cut short because it warmed up and turned the campsite into a big puddle of water covering slippery ice. Our main concern was Tillie trying to move about safely as she is not terribly steady on her feet was very nervous on the ice.
Oddly enough I felt a strong urge to take this portrait shot of Jonathan's dog originally - but by now our Boxer dog.
She was aged 13 and a good age for a Boxer but with a bit of arthritis in one hip.
Later in the week again down by the River Trent which we walk a lot...Sam inexplicably started to run from nearby us but away from us not towards us. She careered along not responding to our calling or whistling her. Jon had a job to catch her but he did and as usual we lifted her into the boot/hatchback of our car. I said Jon " look at her eyes " they had both covered over with a cloudy black. We also realised she had gone deaf too. We took her to her usual vet who diagnosed a brain tumour which had suddenly hit the optic nerve. As she often ignored us she may actually have been deaf for some time but having zero training by Jonathan we hadn't realized the extent of her deafness .She was euthanised the same day on the advice of the vet who had taken into consideration her age and also we had no way of knowing if she was in pain. She had had a wonderful long life though and we cherish the memories:)
This happened in 2019 but part of my series of pet portraits…
Paul was the undisputed king of the café corner. Every morning, he flopped onto the sidewalk, mastering the art of looking dramatically exhausted.
Passersby admired his dedication to laziness. Some took photos, others sighed, envious of his carefree existence. A waiter dropped a croissant crumb nearby. Paul considered moving—then decided against it. Too much effort.
With a deep, world-weary sigh, he embraced his destiny: to be the ultimate café philosopher, contemplating life… one nap at a time.

Many thanks to all those who view, fav or comment my pictures. It is much appreciated.
One of the Highland cows grazing on Killerton estate, a National Trust maintained house and gardens. The herd is roaming freely so it is always a pleasure to spot them on our walks.
These young elephants were photographed in the Etosha National Park in Namibia and the moon was from a trip in January also in the north of Namibia.

With all the whale activity in the harbor this week, I decided to review my archived and unposted images.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a protected area and a World Heritage Site located west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater (caldera), a large volcanic caldera within the area.
Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely populated conservation area in Africa with approximately 25,000 large animals, mostly ungulates living in the crater. The crater has a world record of the predator per capita as per the current concluded wildlife research in Africa.
This magnificent giant, African elephant (Loxodonta africana) is one of the many resident bulls in the crater and was photographed busy feeding on the lush grass on the crater floor during a Photography Safari on a late evening game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania.
