The Milkweed Leaf Beetle lives much of its life eating and reproducing on the Swamp Milkweed plant. Though it can fly, it has little need to, once it is established on a plant. These Beetles slice open veins on the leaves and drink the liquid that pools out. Despite appearances, they aren’t related to ladybugs, and are quite a bit larger and more solid.
One of the things that many creatures feeding on milkweed have in common is the orange and black markings, most famously associated with Monarch butterflies. It is thought that other creatures resident on milkweed have that colouring as a result of natural selection. In effect, the creatures that look like Monarchs (i.e. are orange and black) are thought to share their toxicity to predators. This is called aposematism, and it is a neat thing to find in a swamp!
Like other imitators that flash the colours of danger, however, the Milkweed Leaf Beetle doesn’t actually pose a risk to predators (that is the genius of aposematism). While Monarchs absorb and retain concentrations of cardiac glycosides from the milkweed that pose a risk to predators, these Beetles do not store those chemicals in their bodies.

Since 1945, the bronze figure "Genius of the Mind" has been a focal point in the center of the "Garden Courtyard" in Kleist Park, standing on a high cubic pedestal amidst a formal flowerbed. The winged figure holds a torch in its left hand. It originates from the base of the equestrian monument to Frederick William III in the Lustgarten, which was created by Albert Wolff between 1863 and 1871/76 and destroyed in World War II. The figure, created from 1871 onward, once bent over the allegory of science.
The neo-Baroque Kammergericht (Chamber Court) was built between 1909 and 1913 according to plans by Paul Thoemer and Rudolf Mönnich on the western part of the former Botanical Garden, which had been relocated to Berlin-Dahlem in 1906. The Königskolonnaden (Royal Colonnades) were relocated to Potsdamer Straße in 1910 and 1911 as a representative entrance to Kleist Park and the Kammergericht (Chamber Court). After World War II, the building became the seat of the Allied Control Council until 1991. Following renovations from 1991 to 1997, it once again houses the Kammergericht.

Walking down my path one day,
I found the end of the road.
The hot cement just disappeared
into the grass as it began
to unfold.
What is this beauty, unforeseen.
My walk has lead me
to a place so clean
As I put one foot in
front of the other,
I saw the new path begin.
Now I am on a different road.

Lens ..Sigma 10-20mm The fortunes of the Heathcoat-Amory family were founded in the early nineteenth century. John Heathcoat was born into a Derbyshire farming family in 1783.[4] An inventor of genius, he designed and patented a machine that revolutionised the production of lace. His manufactury near Loughborough was destroyed by former Luddites paid by unknown persons in 1816, he then moved his basis of manufacture, and a large number of his workers, to Tiverton, Devon and there established a lace-works which, by the later part of the nineteenth century, was the largest lace-producing manufactory in the world.
