Invermoriston Bridge was initially started in 1805, but it took eight years to complete, the delay caused by 'idle workers' and a 'languid and inattentive contractor'! It consists of two stone arches, straddling the two channels either side of a large rock 'island' in the middle of the channel. While the location and angle of the bridge may seem odd compare to the modern road layout, it must be remembered that shallow arch bridges were only proven later in the century, and that Telford always played it safe, looking for longevity rather than ease of use. He therefore chose to make use of the rocky outcrop in the middle of the river, to ease the crossing and provide it with extra strength in time of flood. It would also have been a lot easier to build!

The heron on the left was noticeably smaller, so presumedly female. She seemed to be confident of the outcome - notice that her neck feathers remained smooth while the male’s neck feathers were puffed out throughout the squabble. It was the he who ultimately moved to another location. The onlooker never got involved.

Train Broadway - Cheltenham Race Course
Circulant sur la ligne de l'association Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR), la 37215 passe à Gretton alors qu'elle assure l'aller retour "Diesel" de l'après-midi entre Broadway et Cheltenham. Après avoir patienté quelques instants au niveau du signal d'entrée de la gare de Ropley, la 47579 bleue et jaune de l'opérateur historique British Railways repart en direction d'Alresford. Elle circule sur le Mid Hants Railway (Watercress Line) a l'occasion d'un week-end de gala, où une rame marchandises d'époque a été formée.
