Madrid has spectacular skies. Every day we were there, clear skies gave way to clouds as sunset approached, always richly textured and never the same.
A cooperative Spotted Towhee gave me several poses while he sang continuously. Seen at Red Rocks Park, (near Denver, Colorado).

I wasn't sure if there was a collective noun for umbrellas so was delighted when Madame Google gave me 'phalanx' to my query. This was seen during a walkabout in Nice. Obviously I absolutely love the riot of colour.

Well, over thirty years ago, he was doing the same thing when an eastbound Rio Grande freight rolled by dropping downgrade at Crystal Lakes near Malta, Colorado, early in the morning of July 10, 1985. A train running on Rio Grande’s famed route over 10,221-foot Tennessee Pass, and he’s fishing!

We gave a lift to a friend having a day op locally. I took my camera on the offchance of a photo or two (not of his op I hasten to add!)
And this was the scene at Stokes Bay at 8 a.m. where we went on for breakfast at Bayside Cabin before returning to pick our friend up again.

Having a few corners left over from the fun I had with my plastic cubes, I found myself seeing what more I could make of the images. One in particular was very colorful so I started with that one. I duplicated it a bit and that started to look interesting, I then added the yellow from the corner I cut off and that gave a bit of light to the dark. With some nice color going, I was off to look for a bit of texture which led me to a camping trip folder and a window from the side of a wooden building in Maryland. Turns out I really like that shot and went ahead and processed it too. A stone stairway from a monument at Gettysburg Battlefield also caught my eye so I gave it a try and liked it. Many, many times I head down this path and the image just doesn't work so I go find another. Just as many times the whole thing gets shelved and I go do something else. Every so often, as the piece gets developed, I like what I see as was the case here with The Onlookers. All in all, I used four images and included a collage in the first comment.

This is another photo from my stroll through the foggy forest around where I live. I took this in a rather dark part of the forest where only conifers tress grows. Therefore, the light almost completely came from the lighter parts of the forest where it got diffused by the mist. This gave the whole scene a wonderful elvish feel.

I gave this shot from a previous visit to South Devon the nostalgic treatment as our aim to go back this year just didn't happen because of the severe weather conditions. I don't even know if the tractor was running but the tide was right in when we nipped over to Challaborough Bay and I was frozen anyway ......

I tried to get to Dunraven Bay on Sunday to get some sunset shots but the car park and road was completely jammed so gave up and went to Nash Point instead only to find the light had gone! So here are two shots taken a couple of years ago!
Organic Pizza made with whole wheat flour, milk, yeast,
green salt, mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, olive oil, tomatoes paste. I have seen a pizza covered entirely with tomato sauce/paste and I thought it looked great with that brown gold color. The cheese melted all over around and gave that nice shiny look.
It was very tasty.

As I was driving into work, the morning sun was making its way thru the mist and fog, trees are just starting to burst with color and I couldn't help myself but to pull over and take it all in. I drove up on this ridge and parked. I walked up to the open gates and noticed several small spider webs, glistening from the dew in the morning sun and started snapping away, I was very excited to see these come out so well on my iPhone. Tiny moments otherwise unwitnessed, my "stopping to smell the roses" moment.
Aeshna isoceles is a small hawker dragonfly that is found in Europe, mostly around the Mediterranean, and the lowlands of North Africa. Its common name in English is green-eyed hawker. In Britain it is a rare and local species and is known as the Norfolk hawker. It has a brown colour with green eyes and clear wings and also a yellow triangular mark on the second abdominal segment which gave rise to its scientific name. It used to be in the genus Anaciaeschna as it has several differences from the other members of the genus Aeshna. Its specific name is often spelt isosceles.
A. isoceles is one of only two brown hawkers found in Europe, the other is A. grandis. Both have a brown thorax and abdomen but A. isoceles has green eyes and clear wings and a diagnostic yellow triangular mark on the second abdominal segment. The hindwings have an amber patch at their base. In contrast A. grandis has yellowish wings and blueish eyes. The green eye of A. isoceles stands out even in flight and in practice it is not difficult to tell these two dragonflies apart. In addition to the morphological differences A. isoceles is on the wing much earlier in the year than A. grandis.
I saw several orioles on this trip but this specimen gave me the best photo opps. I was disappointed to find one out of focus oriole that I never noticed until I was going through my photos. I had been focussing on a different bird and never noticed it. Luckily I didn't have such a problem with this one. I have other pics I will post of this bird later that clearly show the yellow/orange shoulder mark that separates this from the hooded oriole.
Mother Nature gave us quite a show last night here in Lorain. This may have been one of my favorite sunsets...ever!

Since I am drowning in pictures I am going to hop through all the places where I have been otherwise it might take 100 years before I post really nice shots from locations I would like to share.
This shot was taken in the area of the Lyngen Alps at Lenangsoyra. It is the most northern location I have been during my trip at almost 70 degrees NB in the polar circle. I was here early June and as you can see there still was a lot of snow. In fact in most of the places in Norway at that time there was snow everywhere. It gave a wonderful view to the landscapes.
This area is part of a cape where I enjoyed the views of the fjords but also birds flying by like puffins and razorbills.
Tim gave me a surprise birthday party with all my family... my four children and two grandchilden, my sister and her husband, my 95 year old mother and my great aunt...Chapman beach cottage...HSS!! :))

He gave us a scare as he suddenly crossed the road in front of us. Bob pulled off to the side and I shot the picture from the van as he and a friend continued on their way.
A Magellanic penguin that gave me a little surprise while walking through a field - - he suddenly emerged from his tunnel.
These penguins on Bleaker Island had quite a series of interconnected tunnels; you had to be careful not to step into them.

A visit to the Mile Dorcha waterfall just off the B8005 nr Clunes, Highland to capture the Autumn colours. I stood in the river to take this photo as it gave me the best viewpoint.
My friends gave me a choice. Which would you pick? I decided on the teepee that way I wouldn't wake up my friends when I snuck off kayaking at odd hours. In return for their gracious hospitality for a few days I made them a print to hang on their wall, they really appreciated it. Love this gem of a lake, the next night I watched elk swimming across from my kayak....a real breathe easy place. When the mist finally gave way you could see the whole mountain...:-) A far cry from when I first woke up I couldn't see anything. Taken from my yak.
