Where there are Sparrows - there will be Sparrowhawks.

At Eltham Palace in South East London

Hello there,

A view of one of the gardens that I visited last summer. For Sliders Sunday, I applied an impressionism filter and altered the colour palette. Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

Thank you for viewing and for leaving me a comment! Have a wonderful day!

Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s Party!'

~ Robin Williams

Recently in my house garden.

The Orange-Tip (male) sat on a cool but sunny morning on the not yet opened pasqueflower, which I planted in my garden in front of a natural stone wall. On the wall blooms at the time the Blue Cushion.

Neulich in meinem Hausgarten.

Thanks for visiting!

Garden Warbler - Sylvia Borin

A plain-looking warbler, the garden warbler is a summer visitor to the UK. It is a shy bird and is most likely to be heard, rather than seen, in woodland and scrub habitats.

The garden warbler is a medium-sized warbler of woodland and tall scrub -habitats it shares with the similar blackcap. Garden warblers are summer visitors, arriving in April and leaving in July, although Continental birds can be seen on migration around the east and south coasts until September. They eat insects during the breeding season, but fuel-up on berries and fruit during migration. Garden warblers breed in low trees and shrubs, building their nest from grasses and lining it with fur.

The garden warbler is a plain, sandy-grey warbler, with a pale grey neck and pale underparts.

Garden warblers are shy birds, skulking around in shrubs and bushes. If you can't get a good view, listen out for their song instead - it's similar to the blackcap's, but more mellow and longer.

My cat, Mr. Purry Furry, is getting to be quite an old gentleman now, but he still "works" with me in the garden. He prefers a supervisory role to "hands on" :) He is a very pleasant companion!

Our Garden

A snapshot view of the flowers, sculpture and other paraphernalia that lies within our garden. This record is for the many changes that have taken place over the years. This selection is from May 2020. This was a good year for blooms.

Singapore Botanic Gardens are an oasis of natural beauty and tranquility in a highly urbanized city. The Gardens were established in 1859, and retain the same layout and historical buildings until today.

The Gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are a global center for plant research, development, and conservation. This was a key institution involved with the introduction of rubber trees in South East Asia, which became a major cash crop for the region.

The greening of Singapore is a direct result of the Gardens' efforts, which devoted their expertise and resources to transform Singapore into the Garden City that it has now become.

The National Orchid Garden has the world's largest display of orchids, and is part of Singapore Botanical Gardens' orchid breeding program, with a repository of one thousand species and two thousand hybrids.
