The Great Pacific garbage patch, also described as the Pacific trash vortex, is a garbage patch,
a gyre of marine debris particles, in the central North Pacific Ocean. It is located roughly
from 135°W to 155°W and 35°N to 42°N.[1] The collection of plastic and floating trash originates
from the Pacific Rim, including countries in Asia, North America, and South America.[2]
The gyre is divided into two areas, the "Eastern Garbage Patch" between Hawaii and California,
and the "Western Garbage Patch" extending eastward from Japan to the Hawaiian Islands.
In Greek mythology, Gaia (/ˈɡeɪə, ˈɡaɪə/;from Ancient Greek Γαῖα, a poetical form of Γῆ Gē,
"land" or "earth"), also spelled Gaea /ˈdʒiːə/, is the personification of the Earth and
one of the Greek primordial deities. Gaia is the ancestral mother—sometimes parthenogenic—of all
life. She is the mother of Uranus (the sky), from whose sexual union she bore the Titans
(themselves parents of many of the Olympian gods), the Cyclopes, and the Giants; as well as of
Pontus (the sea), from whose union she bore the primordial sea gods. Her equivalent in the Roman
pantheon was Terra.
Trash HMM challenge
In Greek mythology, Pontus was a Titan, son of Gaea and brother of Uranus. Hesiod recounts that Gaea begat Pontus by herself, without mating.
Daplidice was a Danaid, daughter of Danaus. Fifty sisters who killed their husbands (all but one) on their wedding night and were therefore punished to carry water in vessels until a bottomless cask was filled, a metaphor for endless toil.

Gaia ( /ˈɡeɪ.ə/ or /ˈɡaɪ.ə/; from Ancient Greek Γαῖα, a poetical form of Γῆ, "land" or "earth";[1] also Gaea, or Ge) was the goddess or personification of Earth in ancient Greek religion,[2] one of the Greek primordial deities.

The Melian earth was employed as a pigment by ancient artists. Milos was a source of obsidian during the Neolithic ages for the Aegean and Mediterranean.
