This photo portrays a women who functions by the lights, known as her heart.

The PF lights stick into the trans clear headlight bricks and the wires run on each side of the engineer. Finally the reason for those blue handles in the very beginning is revealed - they make it MUCH easier to mount the center brick of the lights to the base of the train without disassembling more of the walls.

As we left a social function in the country a bit Southwest of Grimsby, Ontario, I noticed some interesting colour and shadow around a shed set in our host, George's, back yard. I love Golden Hour and this is one of those examples of why. I grabbed the camera gear and took a few frames as our host and the remaining guests looked on, likely wondering what the crazy guy was interested in anyway. I just liked the feel of the moment. Unfortunately, the technical capabilities of current camera gear limit the ability to simultaneously capture the highlight and shadow detail in anything that resembles what I saw. Therefore, in the tech detail section below, you will see I used HDR to get the shot and recreate the original scene as best as I can recall. Nice way to wrap up a rather pleasant afternoon. Thanks, George. - JW

Tech Details:

This image is a classic 3 image HDR. The contributing images were all taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D7100 fitted with a Nikkor 18-105mm VR lense set to 18mm, ISO100, Aperture priority, f/5.0 (should have used f/8.0 in hindsight – sharper), 3 auto-bracketed images at EV+/-2 around a nominal 1/200 sec. HDR processing was done using Luminance/Qtpfsgui using the Fattal model at default settings but at reduced gamma (0.8 – therefore darker). PP in GIMP: very slight tone curve adjustment to slightly brighten the brightest sections and produce a bit more natural look, sharpen, add fine black and white frame, add bar and text on left, scale to 1800 wide for posting. (Finally, an easy one!)

This big almost-SHIP has been finished for some time and was displayed at Bricks Cascade 2017. Relative to most of my builds it has a pretty involved function! These WIP shots show the gradual process of paring down and refining this mechanism to boost performance and minimize the space it takes up. More pics coming I don't know when, hopefully soon!

The Bridgewater Canal, stunning with autumn colours. Shot with in camera HDR function. Excuse the blurring around the edges, this was a three frame exposure whilst moving.

The Bridgewater Canal connects Runcorn, Manchester and Leigh, in North West England. It was commissioned by Francis Egerton, 3rd Duke of Bridgewater, to transport coal from his mines in Worsley to Manchester. It was opened in 1761 from Worsley to Manchester, and later extended from Manchester to Runcorn, and then from Worsley to Leigh.

The canal is connected to the Manchester Ship Canal via a lock at Cornbrook, the Rochdale Canal in Manchester, the Trent and Mersey Canal at Preston Brook, southeast of Runcorn, and to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Leigh. It once connected with the River Mersey at Runcorn but has since been cut off by a slip road to the Silver Jubilee Bridge.

Often considered to be the first "true" canal, it required the construction of an aqueduct to cross the River Irwell, one of the first of its kind. Its success helped inspire a period of intense canal building, known as "canal mania". It later faced intense competition from the Liverpool and Manchester Railway and the Macclesfield Canal. Navigable throughout its history, it is one of the few canals in Britain not to have been nationalised, and remains privately owned. Pleasure craft now use the canal which forms part of the Cheshire Ring network of canals.

made a nice small speaker box for my wife.

she wanted some small speakers she could use to listen to her favourite airplay music around the house/garden.

made a nice "handbag-design" for the speakers and fitted a raspberry-pi with wifi and a usb soundcard for better sound and the amplifier in it.

design was made by me in inkscape.

lasered out of 3mm plywood at the fablab nuernberg.
