After sharing a couple telephoto shots from this spot here is a wide angle. The slow speed sure is a boon to photographers allowing for multiple angles at each spot never mind how easily chaseable it is!

Here again is Pan Am train NMWA-13 rolling down District One, the once great Maine Central Railroad Portland Division mainline. The trio of MEC 510, 316, and 7545 (a GP40-2LW, GP40, and C40-8 respectively) with their 4261ft long train of 59 loads and 4 empties are crossing Fuller Road at about MP 75.3 on the modern day Freight Main.

Fuller's Rose Weevil (Asynonychus cervinus)

This one flew in and seemed to be happy to pose for a photo or two.

With an Approach Slow across the Grand Rapids Eastern diamond at Fuller, Marquette Rail's Z151 is headed south for CSX's Wyoming Yard behind GLLX #3001, MQT #2005, and GLLX #3002. This would be one of the last times I would shoot the '01 before it got the orange dip.

The Rocklin Rocket is seen switching one of its last industries before tying up for the day. At MP 110, the local switches H.B. Fuller to pick up and drop off a few tanks. After this it will switch a lumber industry less than a mile south then go the final couple of miles to the Roseville yard.

Sometimes, everything just works out! Marquette Rail and Grand Rapids Eastern meet at Fuller diamond on a sunny April morning. Once MQT clears, the GRE will use headroom across the diamond for some switching. Happy to have finally gotten a meet here!

The Great Western Staircase is one of the Capitol’s most impressive features. Its stair well measures approximately 77 by 70 feet, and is 119 feet in height. Yet, it is also graceful and intricate, and a paradise of stone carving. Known in Albany as the Million Dollar Staircase, it was designed by H. H. Richardson, but transformed into an elaborately carved work of art by Isaac Perry. Governor Grover Cleveland called Perry out of retirement to become Commissioner of the Capitol in 1883. He was the last architect to work on the building and his involvement resulted in a dramatic increase in stone carving. At times he employed hundreds of stone carvers and cutters, paying them five dollars for a ten-hour day – twice the wage of a common laborer. The majority of the carvers were from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Ya, ya, I know but... I liked the skewed angle. So, there you go.

The building is called that because it was the home of the Fuller Construction Company (not the Fuller Brush Company, which was my first thought) who were responsible for many architectural edifices, including the famous Flatiron Building.

*BTW, these steam-releasing tubes are all about the midtown and I haven't a clue what their purpose is.

We have some old books that I was thumbing thru, and discovered this personal note handwritten from a friend to Fuller Barnes in 1899. Fuller F Barnes was a descendant of the founders of Wallace Barnes Mfg. now Associated Spring in our old town in Bristol CT.

Prior to my retirement I Designed and Engineered Tooling for their modern manufacturing processes.

here is a link on the history of Barnes family

Jack Fuller's pyramid is a 25 foot (7.62 m) high mausoleum built in 1811, twenty-three years before his death. It stands in the churchyard of St. Thomas à Becket, Brightling.

The ninth verse of Grey's Elegy is inscribed on one wall:

'The boast of heraldry, the pomp of pow'r

And all that beauty, all that wealth e'er gave

Await alike th' inevitable hour

The paths of glory lead but to the grave'

Local legend had it that Fuller was entombed in the pyramid in full dress and top hat seated at a table set with a roast chicken and a bottle of wine. This was discovered to be untrue during renovations in 1982. Fuller is indeed buried in the conventional manner beneath the pyramid.

Marquette Rail SD40-2 #3389 leads SD40-2s #3406, #3408 and Grand Rapids Eastern GP38-2 #2104 south across the Grand Rapids Eastern diamond and Indian Mill Creek bridge at Fuller. Their 51 cars will be interchanged to CSX at Wyoming yard, where they will pick up their northbound train and head back north.

Marquette Rail's Z151 knocks down the signal for Fuller diamond as the train crosses Indian Mill Creek. During this era, MQT had 5 GP38-2s leased from GATX, but it was pretty unusual to see the Z train running with just a pair of them. GMTX #2676 was a former Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines unit that was built with an extended cab to accommodate dual control stands.

Jeff Fuller shortly after catching the pass from Johnson, crossing into the end zone. You're welcome, Mrs. Fuller!!!

I don't know if the Grand Rapids Eastern's yard has a name or not, but since it's located right at Fuller junction, "Fuller Yard" makes sense to me. Here we see the crew running to the other end of the yard as they begin their day of work. From left to right we have the main, track 1, 2, 3 and the engine house lead.

Another mid-length skirt and boots outfit for winter. This time it's a fuller skirt and grey suede boots, with a simple black rollneck.

Engineer trainee Neil Klemm is at the controls of MQT 3406, 3407, 3389 on CSX rails coming north out of Grand Rapids MI with a train of cars from CSX's Wyoming Yard to bring back to Marquette property. The train is passing the Fuller Diamond signals that guard the former GTW/PM diamond. In this interlocking in a day you can see the GRE, Grand Elk, MQT and CSX, mind you they are all just one train a day if that but it still see's all 4 railroads. To the right of the engines used to be the former PRR/Michigan northern mainline to Traverse City Mi.

I wouldn't normally post a shot shooting blatantly into the sun like this, but I really like the perspective here. This is the west end of Grand Rapids Eastern's Fuller yard, looking east. The bridge in the foreground takes the mainline over Alpine Ave. The eastbound distant signal here displays a fixed approach indication, protecting the CSX diamond beyond, which can be seen displaying a clear signal for the GRE. The mainline is on the right, while 2104 is on #1 track, follow by #2 track and the stub-ended #3 track. The crew was in the process of fishing out a loaded lumber car, which will be taken west to the Coopersville & Marne interchange.
