Promoting 100,000 Strong in the Americas: On April 30, Public Affairs Officer Susan Bridenstine attended the formal signing of a Fulbright Commission and ANII (National Investigation and Innovation Agency) agreement whereby ANII will provide USD $400,000 in scholarships for Uruguayan graduate students, primarily in science and business, to study in the United States. The agreement will be formally ratified in a public event at a later date. Employees of ANII and Fulbright, Fulbright board members, Fulbright alumni, and alumni board members attended the event. PAO Susan Bridenstine signed the agreement as board president. Laboratorio Tecnologico del Uruguay (LATU) President Rodolfo Silveira signed for ANII.

In June 2023, Ambassador Michael Adler welcomed newly-selected Belgian, Luxembourgish, and European Fulbright grantees to the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium for a pre-departure reception.
Guests heard from Ambassador Adler, Fulbright Executive Director Erica Lutes, and special guest Alexia Bertrand, the State Secretary for Budget and Consumer Protection and a Fulbright alumna.

MARTIN LAFETTE FULBRIGHT
Martin LaFette Fulbright, son of William and Reginia (Sigmon) Fulbright was born April 5, 1838 in Catawba County, North Carolina. His parents moved to Iredell County, North Carolina in 1856, where William had purchased a farm. The family belonged to the Sharon School Board Lutheran church. On August 1, 1862, Martin enlisted in Company C, 48th North Carolina Infantry Regiment in Iredell County, North Carolina. The 48th North Carolina saw the following battles: Fredericksburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Appomattox operations, and at Oak Grove sustained heavy casualties.
After the Civil War Martin went west and went to work in Wilson County, Kansas. There he purchased land and was married on April 8, 1883 to Orpha Black, born January 7, 1854, daughter of William Dye Black and Naomi Surber Black. To this union four children were born and grew to maturity, they were: Benjamin Franklin Fulbright who was born in Wilson County, Kansas on May 29, 1884; Naomi Katherine Fulbright who was born in Wilson County, Kansas on July 24, 1886; Elizabeth Ann (Bessie) Fulbright who was born in Wilson County, Kansas on July 7, 1889 (she later on August 26, 1914 married William Alfred Hock); William Thomas Fulbright who was born in Wilson County, Kansas on December 17, 1891 (he later on December 8, 1915 married Maude Ethel Amphlett).
Martin had two farms, a river bottom farm that was flooded out two years out of three. He lived near Neodesha, Kansas and he and his wife are buried in Ross Cemetery.
His obituary does not mention his military service but is as follows:

M. L. FULBRIGHT DIES.

M. L. Fulbright, a well known and highly esteemed old resident of this section, died at his home, six miles northwest of Neodesha, Saturday, March 18, 1916, about noon, aged 77 years. He had been in failing health for some time.
He was a native of North Carolina and came to Kansas in an early day settling in Wilson county in 1870. For 23 years he has resided on the farm where he died. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. The sons are B. F. and W. T. Fulbright and the daughters are Miss Kate Fulbright and Mrs. W. A. Hock. All were present at his death. Mrs. Hock’s home is at Dallas, Texas, but the others are on the home place. Mrs. A. C. Deal, North Carolina, and G. H. Fulbright of Star City, Arkansas are sister and brother of the deceased.
Mr. Fulbright was a good, square, honorable man, enjoying the confidence and respect of all who knew him. He was a kind, loving and considerate husband and father, a helpful and generous neighbor and a true friend. To the bereaved ones the deepest sympathy of all is extended.
Funeral services were held at the home last Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Elder Wm. E. L. Shane, of the Christian church, and interment was made in the Ross cemetery northwest of Neodesha. The pall bearers were: Sam Young, Jot King, Elmer Whiteside, Henry Bray, Frank Whiteside and Asa Cooley.

In June 2018, current Fulbright ETAs to Belgium joined representatives from nine universities and university colleges across Belgium to discuss the ETA Program.

ESPOL recibió la visita de una comisión de profesores de secundaria, de Estados Unidos, participantes de un programa de becas de la Comisión Fulbright. La delegación integrada por más de 20 docentes recorrió el CTI-ESPOL, se reunió con profesores politécnicos que participaron en programas Fulbright y con la rectora Cecilia Paredes.
La Embajadora Julissa Reynoso recibió en su Residencia al Visit USA Committee Uruguay para despedir el año, repasar las actividades del 2012 y marcar la agenda para el 2013. Al igual que en otros paÃses, el Visit USA de Uruguay es una organización sin fines de lucro cuyo principal objetivo es promover e incrementar el tráfico turÃstico hacia los Estados Unidos. Actualmente cuenta con 14 miembros comerciales e institucionales representados por la Sección Comercial de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos, aerolÃneas, operadores mayoristas que trabajan el destino, cadenas de hoteles, rent a car, y medios de prensa escrita y de televisión especializados. Education USA [www.educationusa.org.uy/] también participó del encuentro realizando una valiosa presentación de sus programas. En el 2012 se organizó una visita exitosa con quinceañeras a Florida International University y se acordó para el 2013 emprender más visitas con otros grupos de viaje y otras universidades.
