Undercover work is one of the most unique investigative techniques available to bail enforcement. The theory behind not wearing a uniform is that it removes any impediments to acquiring information. It's part of the same intelligence-gathering function as surveillance, eavesdropping, use of informants, and espionage. It typically involves an assumed identity for a defined and considerable amount of time. Undercover work requires secrecy. It allows the bail enforcement agent to circulate in areas where the police are not ordinarily welcome. Once the skip or runner has been arrested, the agents identity is usually revealed.
Of all the kinds of bail enforcement assignments, undercover work puts you at most risk of corrupting your integrity. At some point, the undercover agent may begin to lose perspective, and become emotionally attached to this type of work. Agents who engage in extended participant-observation (undercover assignments) runs the risk of "going native", and it takes tremendous self-discipline to keep from doing so.

Q: Can I use any type of weapon and armor I want?
ANS: No, bail enforcement agents (bounty hunters) are still civilians and as such we must follow all laws concerning weapons and firearms. Most state, county and city laws allow for the "open carry" of sheathed knifes or swords. My personal open-carry preference is my Hattori HanzĂ´ Katana. Check with your local laws first.
Q: How do you wind down after an arrest?
ANS: I drink. Tracy prefers chocolate "magic" truffles.
