I had seen these Konic stallions perform like this & was determined to capture the image. It took a number of fruitless visits before they "performed" within camera shot ....
THE VERY OLD ONE SINGS:
there is not more in little
nor is there less
still is uncertain what was
what is to be will be will-less
first when it is it is serious
fruitless it recollects itself
and stays in great haste
everything of worth is defenceless
grows rich from touchability
and equal to everything

USUALLY in pairs, strongly associated with waterside habitats and bridges. Quick twisting and purposeful flight pattern, mostly at a low level, A rare stop from the flight, as they nest under the Kotu bridge in the Gambia.

THANK YOU, for your visit, friendship and comments, am having a job getting my enthusiasm going for UK birds, after a couple of fruitless trips out.
Keep safe and well dear friends, God bless.......................Tomx
All my instincts, they return
The grand facade, so soon will burn
Without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside
In your eyes
The light, the heat (in your eyes)
I am complete (in your eyes)
I see the doorway (in your eyes)
To a thousand churches (in your eyes)
The resolution (in your eyes)
Of all the fruitless searches (in your eyes)
BLACK, grey and white bird, has a bounding flight and the distinctive habit of pumping its tail up and down. The Pied Wagtail is associated with areas of bare ground and tarmac roads and paths, so to see one on a scrub tree, off the ground, was not going to be missed, brought joy to a other wise fruitless trip.

THANK YOU for being a friend, love reading your comments, and will eagerly look forward to returning your visit and doing the same.

After a warm day fruitlessly chasing around these beauties, the late afternoon cloud rolled in and at last a few settled long enough for a few shots - Flawborough in East Nottinghamshire (UK) (2711)
FRUITLESS HOURS of searching for a firecrest, with no results, has led me to put up a old capture not shown before, to cheer myself up, hope you enjoy this cheeky pose, from this tiny bird.

This was my last -- and best -- frame of the day after a mostyy fruitless shooting trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway. As I approached the Great Valley of Virginia overlook, the last light on the fog bank across the valley made me pull my car over one more time as I drove home. ©2021 John M. Hudson | jmhudson1.com

Plumeria is a genus of flowering plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. Most species are deciduous shrubs or small trees. The species variously are indigenous to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, and as far south as Brazil and north as Florida, but are grown as cosmopolitan ornamentals in warm regions. Common names for plants in the genus vary widely according to region, variety, and whim, but Frangipani or variations on that theme are the most common. Plumeria flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure sphinx moths to pollinate them. The flowers yield no nectar, however, and simply trick their pollinators. The moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar. 14252

Les tout puissants de notre monde
ont soudain mauvaise, la belle idée inféconde
de vouloir décider comment doit tourner la ronde
elle doit tourner même si la danse devient immonde
à quelques uns veulent ils changer la face du monde?

suddenly have the bad idea, the beautiful and fruitless idea

Thank you peanut. No, his name is not peanut, it’s Cooper the juvenile Cooper’s hawk. Why thank the peanut? Couple of reasons. First, without the peanuts, this shot and many others would not have been possible for me to take in the comfort zone of my yard. Huh? Well, peanuts attract Jays and Jays attract …. Yes, you guessed it. Secondly, I am dealing with a bit of budgetary cognitive dissonance here. My dollar outlay for peanuts has reached new heights and is now my number one household expense. I spend more on peanuts than I do on gas (that’s both types of gas, the one for the truck and the heating kind for the house), phone, electricity (not combined, just individually), cable modem and tv package. There are of course benefits to this, mostly to the environment. It keeps me and my truck off the road polluting the atmosphere while taking pictures of Cooper in the yard instead of spending fruitless hours searching for him and his companions in the environs.
So, enjoy this shot and keep in mind how truly environmentally friendly it is even though produced by an Albertan.
By the way, it’s a juvie because he does not have the red eye that apparently can take up to four years to develop. I think I got that piece of wisdom from Don Delaney. It does not take me nearly that long to sport that red in the eye. One night of partying and …. maybe I should show Cooper.
And since this was taken on a Tuesday and it’s gone now, the choice is obvious. You are welcome Lou.
I’ve had a couple of fruitless trips to St Hubert’s Church at Idsworth in Hampshire recently. So, back to the archives it is then.
I went on a wild smew chase this morning, checking out a report from yesterday about a smew being sighted on the Mississippi River in my area. After freezing my face in a cold stiff breeze for two hours, fruitlessly scoping hundreds of lesser scaup, common goldeneyes, canvasbacks and other assorted diving and puddle ducks, I gave up since the smew was probably halfway back to Siberia by now. Luckily, one of my favorite birding spots was nearby and it wasn't a totally wasted day when this cooperative sandhill crane came strolling by.

This one is at the place where my love lives
Some of you might remember the green field I uploaded a month ago.
Now autumn is coming soon.
The light was special at this day, also the clouds.
It is a HDR work from 3 different exposured shots.
Layered together with 8 different HDR turned versions and one BW turned with Nik´s silver efex.
I am out in the field, looking for the magic donkey.
Hope you all enjoy this summerday, might be the last

In Your Eyes
-Peter Gabriel-
Love I get so lost sometimes
Days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
When I want to run away I drive off in my car
But whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are
All my instincts, they return
The grand facade, so soon will burn
Without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside
In your eyes
The light, the heat (in your eyes)
I am complete (in your eyes)
I see the doorway (in your eyes)
To a thousand churches (in your eyes)
The resolution (in your eyes)
Of all the fruitless searches (in your eyes)
Oh, I see the light and the heat (in your eyes)
Oh, I wanna be that complete
I wanna touch the light, the heat I see in your eyes
Love, I don't like to see so much pain
So much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive
And all my instincts they return
And the grand facade, so soon will burn
Without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside
In your eyes (your eyes, your eyes)
In your eyes
In your eyes
The light, the heat (in your eyes)
I am complete (in your eyes)

Taking my camera for another long fruitless walk, along the sea wall, this wagtail took pity on me, stopped and looked my way, defecated and cleared off.

ALMOST ASLEEP! after two fruitless hours in the hide at the scrape Sandwich Bay, Kent, U.K, when the above goose dropped in, one of a pair. Not seen that often in our area. INTRODUCED from America 300 odd years ago, it is fairly widespread, seems at home in urban parks, with ornamental lakes, feeds on adjacent grassland. And after much HONKING , grooming, and courtship displays, they took to the sky.

GODs BEAUTY is SIMPLY AMAZING!
Blow Fly - Green Bottle (Neomyia cornicing). Saw this tiny fly today at work in Devizes, it had been caught by a spiders web on its leg. this gave me an opportunity to try and get a few shots while it rested in between fruitless attempts of escape, the spider soon won the day and all was over within 5 minutes. RIP tiny fly....Let me also say that the entire time this struggle went on I also struggled within myself....should I, or should I not let it go. Eventually I came to the conclusion that on this particular occasion I wasn't going to act like God, after all, by releasing the fly I could also be killing the spider. Handheld, Olloclip macro @ 21x, Hisy remote, tweaked in 'Photos' on iMac.

Taken at Rhossili Beach, Gower one of many shipwrecks around the coast. Trying to do more mono shots! Some history of the Vennerne below:
The Vennerne was a 275 tonne barque on the way from Aberdovey to Swansea when rough seas forced her to take shelter in the protection afforded by Worms Head. Unfortunately that protection did not prove enough as she dragged her anchor and found herself driven onto the beach beneath the cliffs. The Rhossili L.S.A. were quickly on the scene and tried to fire safety lines across from the land to the ship. All were unsuccessful. With the chance of the Vennerne suffering further damage increasing with every minute that past the Captain, along with his family and crew, made the decision to abandon ship and made it ashore on a small boat.
The next day an attempt was made to refloat the Vennerne but this ultimately proved fruitless. She wrecked later that day. The Iron Hull was sold at auction for the princely sum of £54. The remains that can be seen today is all that is left from that salvage operation. Taken from Gowershipwrecks.co.uk
I wasn't able to identify this one through any of my nature books and online searches also proved fruitless. I posted it to the BBC Springwatch site who advised to try the Butterfly Conservation Group. After posting to them, they very helpfully ID'd this rare specimen for me!!

Plumeria flowers
are most fragrant at night in order to lure sphinx moths to pollinate them. The flowers yield no nectar, however, and simply trick their pollinators. The moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar. Insects or human pollination can help create new varieties of plumeria. Plumeria trees from cross pollinated seeds may show characteristics of the mother tree or their flowers might just have a totally new look.
Plumeria species may be propagated easily by cutting leafless stem tips in spring. Cuttings are allowed to dry at the base before planting in well-drained soil. Cuttings are particularly susceptible to rot in moist soil. One optional method to root cuttings is applying rooting hormone to the clean fresh-cut end to enable callusing. Plumeria cuttings could also be propagated by grafting a cutting to an already rooted system. The Plumeria Society of America lists 368 registered cultivars of Plumeria as of 2009.

A consolation of a recent fruitless search for the Waxwings that have eventually arrived in Sheffield has been the opportunity to watch good numbers of Redwings!
Unknown red berries were the only excitement after fruitlessly looking for little garden critters to play macro with this afternoon.
Well he / she looks a bit angry to me.
Short Eared Owl taken in very low light on a cloudy day after a long and mostly fruitless search. Then the gods smiled on me - briefly.
Pushing the RF800mm lens to the limit of what it is capable of (as I coudln't face lugging the 600/4 round all day). Had the shutter speed as low as humanly possible to try and keep the ISO down, also underexposing. The purple tinge in the background is not me being judicious with Photoshop - just the colour change in late afternoon and low light.
Thankfully the R5 silent shutter mode didn't scare the owl away, but it was still keeping an eye on me, probably wondering what I was doing hiding in the undergrowth.
I have used Topaz on the background noise, but no sharpening on the bird itself (as it looked nasty when I tried it). Sometimes you need to know when not to sharpen!

I know i'm obsessed with beaches skies and reflections, but it's a beautiful obsession, and i hope it's not harmful/ Hardly any days are fruitless, and you never know what will unfold before your eyes. The only days I lose my desire for my daily dose of f love and reflections are really clear blue sky days. I used to love Sue dancing to this song by Alabama 3, and shouting out, "shoot me up in the mainline, with a hypo full of love" She always did, and the beach always does for me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=teEsNn7YuKI
One the same day as this shot (flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/53962995818/in/dateposted), I went to Soesterberg airport. I had never seen an Eurasian Hobby before (I thought), and since they were seen quite frequently there I thought it would be a good idea to photograph something different than hovering kestrels, or kestrels on a post.
After a few hours of fruitless birdwatching (it was bird cucumber time anyway) I packed up and headed home, disappointed, when I suddenly saw three falcons at the next part of the airport (the gliding runway). Of course kestrels again was my first thought because there was one hanging there praying, but just to be on the safe side I chose one of the other two.
So that wasn't a kestrel!!! There were at least three Eurasian Hobbies(?) busy hunting dragonflies above the field. With incredible agility, they grab the dragonflies with their legs in full flight and nibble the dragonflies to the afterlife as they fly. I spent about 45 minutes looking and taking pictures, but it was not easy to keep them in the viewfinder.
When I got home, it turned out that they were indeed Eurasian Hobbies, but also the sobering experience that I had already captured them for a long time.
What I often mistook for peregrine falcons had generally been Eurasian Hobbies. Even more sobering was that even a blind horse could have told the difference between a Eurasian Hobby and a peregrine falcon. Learned something again.
What remains is the conclusion that I now have to hunt for peregrine falcons, because I hardly have a good photo of them..
We were moving away from a water body in the Thar desert after a fruitless wait for some birds, when suddenly I noticed something fly off and land on the side of the safari vehicle. I asked the driver to stop, and saw this bright yellow coloured desert locust on the ground.
It was quite cooperative and allowed us some fantastic close ups. Some of us did click him even with their mobile.
They seem beautiful with their bright yellow colours and the pattern on wings,,but under certain conditions, can multiply uncontrollably to millions and destroy crops in vast regions. Hence the caption.
