I visited Disneyland today, Sunday September 17, 2017. It was overcast and warm (80 F), and moderately crowded.

frontierland

This is the best attraction that Frontierland has to offer. After riding this, my family always gets right back on line to have another chance on this great roller coaster. I am usually fine with just getting on this once. Then, while they enjoy the attraction a second time, I wander around Frontierland taking photos and all of us are happy!

From The Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland. They were super yummy but Rae and I couldn't finish it all. It became a lovely melting mess!

Caught this shot during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween parade just outside of the Haunted Mansion.

If you look closely, you can see parts of the parade from the long exposure settings.

And let's not forget the classic Splash Mountain standing tall in the back as well!

I don't see too many night shots of this attraction on Flickr so put your hands together.........

In Frontierland on the temporary walls in front of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad during its refurbishment.

I Googled this as I was curious to the significance of this marker along the Rivers of America near New Orleans Square. This is what I found:

A canal in New Orleans Square, labeled "1764," is all that remains of a plan to unify several themes in the land.

The plan called for a crypt next to the Mansion that led into an underground catacomb of treasure and dead pirates, culminating in a pirate-themed hideout on Tom Sawyer Island. The pirate theme would have focused on Jean Laffite, a real-life pirate from the early 1800s in New Orleans. Laffite’s name might be familiar to frequent Disneyland visitors from the Pirates of the Caribbean loading zone, where a sign reads "Laffite’s Landing." The date 1764 was derived by subtracting 200 years from the birth date of one Imagineer who worked on the project. FURTHERMORE: Before its replacement with La Petite Patisserie, there was also a Laffite’s Silver Shop in New Orleans Square. Having a Jean Laffite identified as the "owner" of the Haunted Mansion would have united Pirates of the Caribbean with the Mansion and the island into one underlying theme, an unusual feat for an entire land. Though unrealized, the plan lives on in the form of this barricaded "crypt."

...I swear...I learn more and more about Disneyland every time I go.
