Pictures from our excursion in Skagway - "A White Pass Scenic Railway." Every so often you find that there is an excursion that many, if not the majority, of people take. When visiting Skagway, the White Pass Scenic Railway is just that. I am so glad we did it. Our train left around 1pm during the afternoon of our visit to Skagway on a beautiful day. A map of our route is found here (wpyr.com/excursions/product/summit-excursion/). I am glad that we were able to stop here, with the rockslide damage to the dock. We were able to tender and take this awesome train. It was a wonderful experience and I definitely would recommend it to people traveling to Skagway. Taken on September 5th, 2022 during our port call to Skagway, Alaska. On board the Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas for the seven night Alaska Experience Cruise (September 2nd through 9th, 2022). The cruise embarks from Seattle, Washington and the itinerary includes stops in Juneau (AK), Skagway (AK), Sitka (AK) and Victoria (British Columbia, Canada) before heading back to Seattle.

To realize the eco-museum ideas and give visitors an experience of being in an actual tunnel and a better understanding of the working conditions underground, in cooperation with Taiwan Sugar Corp, the old Benshan Tunnel No 5 was renovated and partly re-opened to the public as the tunnel experience area. Waxworks are used to show the process of ore extraction and how the miners worked in the old days.

From October 12 through the 20th, a team of Oklahoma and Arkansas disaster relief workers from the respective states' Southern Baptists were in Greenville, NC preparing meals for residents who had been displaced due to floodwaters from Hurricane Matthew.

Erbil, 15 March 2015 - A high level delegation from Japan, led by Mr. Kentaro Sonoura, parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs visited today Baharka camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs). The government of Japan has donated US$11.5 million to World Food Programme (WFP) and over US$ 10 million to UNICEF in Iraq to help hundreds of thousands of IDPs and Syrian refugees with food, water and sanitation, education and health initiatives.

The Governor of Erbil, Mr. Nawzad Hadi, along with Ms. Jane Pearce, the Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme in Iraq, and Philippe Heffinck, UNICEF Country Representative, attended the ceremony.

In 2014 the World Food Programme scaled up its operations to provide food assistance to 2.2 million Iraqis who have been displaced by the conflict that erupted in mid-June 2014. The organization has supported Iraqis across the 18 governorates by distributing food parcels, food vouchers and setting up field kitchens for those on the move.

The Government of Japan’s delegation visited Baharka camp in order to meet with internally displaced families and hear their stories. Japan’s latest contribution will be used to assist 348,043 internally displaced individuals with voucher-based emergency food assistance.

On the occasion of the visit of the Japanese delegation, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Iraq, UNICEF Iraq has organized, for around 1,000 IDP children, the screening of a Japanese animation film, My Neighbour, Totoro. The film won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize and the Mainichi Film Award for Best Film in 1988.

Guma by Harper Clark from Petaluma CA

Step into a realm where the prehistoric meets the futuristic with our art piece, “GUMA”. This captivating installation showcases a magnificent dinosaur that seamlessly blends two eras from our universe. Its intricate design invites the community to engage with it in a unique way—walk along the back spine and feel the connection to the ancient past, or lounge within the belly of this extraordinary creature, experiencing a sense of wonder and exploration.

“GUMA” encourages interaction and imagination, allowing participants to bridge the gap between time periods and discover the beauty of coexistence. Join us in celebrating creativity, community, and the endless possibilities that arise when we merge the past with the future.
