Don't they look like they are having a good time, shaking everything about? Or is it just me? Obsessed about trees. But we don't appreciate them enough. With a best friend who is a crazy Finnish log cutter who wants nothing more than to see them in nice regular shapes, I obsess that trees not only have lives but have senses and emotions too. How often have I written of the loneliness of all those lone trees that photographers love to photograph without a care or thought for the tree's happiness?
I caught these four having a right good wiggle, giggling away to themselves and shaking their booty. A happy sight that brought a smile to my face. It was a Roaches disco complete with flared trunks and frizzy permed hair. A rare sight indeed, delightfully presented to you.

These newborn cattle egret chicks made me smile when I saw them through the lens....and I hope they give you a smile this evening as well.

A few months ago I found a photo online of this location and knew I wanted to find it to shoot; and to my surprise and delight it isn't too far away from Knoxville!
So off we went to North Carolina so I could get a self portrait.
I think it was well worth the drive; this place was even more fantastic in person than it was in the photo I had seen and the photo was absolutely gorgeous so it did not disappoint.
I hope to venture back to this place on my next visit to Knoxville; to see what it's like during a different season. I bet it's beautiful, no matter the time of year.

In 1975 and 1976 I worked at the Amsterdam sleep-in, then on the Rozengracht, just around the corner of my house. The sleep-in was an initiative of the city after it forbade young tourists to sleep in the Vondelpark open air. For a few guilders they could now get a place with a bunk bed, some simple foodstuffs and light alcoholic beverages. Their marihuana or hash (Amsterdam's main attraction, both then and now for these kids) they had to get elsewhere but nobody bothered them if they wanted to smoke it in the sleep-in.
In 1977, I didn't work there anymore but regularly visited friends who did still work in the sleep-in, now established in an old factory on the Looiersgracht. One day I shot some rolls of b&w film, portraying these young tourists: too late for the hippy generation of the sixties,too early for the punk generation of the future.
After having them developed I never printed these pictures. So when I rediscovered them in my negatives collection recently they were totally new to me. Needless to say, I was surprised at what I found and will post more of them here over the next several weeks.

hello everyone! thought it was time for another upload. this is really really old but at least it's not another miniature, right? the cross country season just started and i've been so unbelievably busy that i haven't taken pictures in weeks. but don't worry, i'll find time for it soon. also, some people asked about my poetry project, so i think i'll post some of my poetry on flickr soon. until next time, flickrites!

Resolution #3 ~ I have naturally wavy (coarse, thick, and FRIZZY!) hair. I always fought with my hair straightener to try and tame my mane.
This year, I'm throwing out my straightener, blow dryer, and sulfate products and embracing my curls!
