Holi represents the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. It is also said to be the enactment of a game the Hindu god Lord Krishna played with his consort Radha and the gopis, or milkmaids. The story represents the fun and flirtatiousness of the gods but also touches on deeper themes: of the passing of the seasons and the illusory nature of the material world.

Millions of Indians celebrated Monday the Hindu Holi festival all over india, dancing to festive music, exchanging food and drink and smearing each other with red, green, blue and pink powder, turning the air into a joyful kaleidoscope of color..From red to green to indigo, each color provides festival-goers with a sense of beauty, ritual and tradition.

If you land in India anytime in late February or March, it’s wise to check the dates of the annual Holi festival, and bring a spare set of clothes. That’s because for a few days in spring, people crowd the streets and splash brilliantly colored dyes on anyone walking by. “The colors never come out of your clothes,” he said. “And you might be having purple hair for many days. It is a complete liability.” It’s hard to avoid the fun—and paint—unless you stay inside or look menacing enough to discourage the custom.

We met at a sky garden in the Northshore area. Was there waiting to take pics of the sunset and these two were also there waiting to view the sunset. We started chatting and found out that they are foreigners working in Singapore as household maids. They are very nice girls and socially, very responsible. I noticed, at the sky garden, whenever they saw some rubbish thrown by other people, they will clear the rubbish into a bin nearby. I asked them about their action and both replied that they dislike seeing rubbish everywhere in such a nice place. Of course, I praised them of their good character. Now, where can you find such great people?

Shot during the Christmas holidays at Largo Park in Florida, where the trees and bushes were illuminated by festive Christmas lights. The lights remained on for a while after sunrise, producing a "stardust" effect on the darker bushes in the image, but not evident in the trees.

The three trees in the image touching each suggest to me the warm camaraderie of three friends... thus the title.

In every 12 years interval a grand festival, called Naropa, takes place at ancient Hemis monastery.

On Sept. 5 I posted a Tigridia called "Bitten Beauty". I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was chewing big holes in my flower petals!! Until today!! I caught this bee in the act. He chewed out a big piece of petal, then grabbed it and flew off. I waited about 5 minutes, and then he came back and did it again!! I've never seen a bee do this before.....
