The Spirit was a comic hero of the 1940s. Written and drawn by Will Eisner, he appeared in a comic book insert in Sunday newspapers. The Rocketeer was a comic hero who appeared in 1982, written and drawn by Dave Stevens. His stories were set in the 1940s.

Since both the heroes were independently owned, it was inevitable that somebody get the bright idea to bring them together. The stories have all the quirky humor that was the Spirit's trademark. Lots of fun.

Hold the sleeve past the wrist joint as you slide the armor all the way on the arm. I was able to get the forearm armor just a little bit higher than the wrist joint, and the friction between the armor and the bodysuit will pull the sleeve back a bit.

Friction shock system worked flawlessly on the race bikes. Looked pretty cool, too.

thanks for looking

At least I tried.

I padded my wounds by the book and as perfect as possible.

Then I put on my running shoes and ran a couple of laps in the livingroom - worked great!

I decided to try playing tonight (football match), but had to throw in the towel after the warm up session.

Now I'm a bit angry, though we won the match 3 to 1. Jei

Mr. Tinys Kustoms asked me to take a stab at designing a graphic for Frictionin Thestatic, his weekly kustom kulture radio show/podcast. So, here's what I came up with, using a photo of mine featuring Jolene Jolene. Premium & standard t-shirts with this print are available here: haightart.spreadshirt.com/

The first space shuttle external tank to be partially built using the friction stir welding technique began its journey from NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to the Kennedy Space Center, Fla., May 1. The tank, built by Lockheed Martin workers at Michoud, was loaded onto a barge to begin its six-day, 900-mile journey to the Kennedy Center. The tank arrived at the Kennedy Center May 7.

Starting to heal now. Day 0 Day 1

Had to remove the blister plasters because of the heavy padding I had done. It had healed quite well underneath though.

The white you see is Bacimycin powder to prevent an infection. The powder is the only one containing antibiotics which is sold free in Norway.

Update March 2nd, Day 5:

It didn't hurt at all last night, but after the shower this morning it was all soft again and I needed to apply another Compeed.

Not going to pad that any extra and hope it'll stay on for a week or two.

Hopefully I'll be back in football and ski business next week.

Box sides of friction powered tin Rocket Racers by unknown Chinese maker with model no. MF 735 (I guess a state owned factory produced these). The box art misspelled the word “Friction” twice, one as “Riction” and the other “Fpriction” but that only adds more charm to it.

"Friction" - Word Of The Day Challenge

Made Explore #423

Some time ago, Cale Leiphart introduced me to some aftermarket o-rings to increase traction on PF trains. This worked phenomenally. However I began experiencing a new issue- my trains were derailing. The extra thickness of the aftermarket o-rings were robbing the wheels of the full amount of flange to keep them railed, especially on curves and switches.

It didn't happen every time, but often enough that I abandoned them.

But I really missed the pulling power - believe me there was a difference.

So I decided to keep looking for an alternative. I found these smaller o-rings and gave them a shot. They are 2/16ths of an inch smaller in diameter, so installed they are under tension. I do not know if this will negatively affect longevity.

I have not yet tested them.

The first pair of wheels (left) compares the old aftermarket o-rings with the new. The second pair (right) compares the new aftermarket o-rings with the stock LEGO versions.

As it is, I hope, clear from the photo, the new o-rings are nearly half the diameter difference between the others. Since they are the same brand as the old, I hope they provide the same increased friction. As they are smaller, I hope its enough to keep my trains railed.

I will post my findings when I have them.

Two different versions of friction powered tin Rocket Racers by unknown Chinese maker with model no. MF 735 (I guess a state owned factory produced these). Both 7.5 inches long. Again the quality is, put it bluntly, a real crap, cheap and nasty. Participated in a ski race today. Ran 40km (24 miles) in new ski boots and had no time (I thought) to prevent my socks to slide down. This was the painful outcome.

Though 4 times larger, not quite as painful
