In Nordic Europe, the Scandinavian myths associated the dragonfly with the goddess *Freya, who is a goddess of love. The Chinese and Japanese also raise the dragonfly as a sacred animal. In American and European myths, the dragonfly is the being that punishes the lying. The dragonfly is also called the "closer of the devil", as it sews the mouth sewn at the liars in their sleep.
