Fresno, Ca.
The sign said, "Pickup." So I tried the best line I could think of. "Hey babe, do you ever go against the grain?" She seemed unmoved. So I moved on.

I post this to dispel once and for all time the notion that I don't like wildlife photography.
Backyard non sequitur.
Wandering through Fresno, California I happened upon this scene. The horseman at left appears to be a depiction (prototype?) of David of Sassoon who is an Armenian folk hero. The figure lurking in the shadows at right turns out to be President John F. Kennedy.

I posted an earlier view of this, but I also like this one. For years I've taken my kids up to Jack Ass Meadows and there is a dome up there that we used as a landmark to show when we were close to the campground. I always called it the Fresno Half Dome. Then I found out that this is really the Fresno Dome and felt a little bit like a dummy. I found out that the other dome is called Bear Dome. Oops. Here is a link to a picture of Bear Dome: www.flickr.com/photos/35900399@N07/18070629039/in/photoli...
If you get in the Bass Lake area, I like to explore the scenic byway. Road 632 off of Highway 41 goes miles back into the high Sierra and has a lot of views that are worthy of taking pictures. This was taken from the Kelty Campground. Definitely a worthy place to explore.
I took a drive out through the foothills around Fresno and looped around to Pine Flat Reservoir on the way back to town. I didn't see may poppies like I was hoping for, but there were a few areas full of flowers like this shot. The sky became darker as I got near the Sierras, but the clouds were pretty awesome. There was still a lot of water coming down from the higher elevations in the creeks in this area. Last year at this time, the creeks were dry. Made for a nice drive.
This was taken in the foothills outside of Fresno. I loved the view with these two solitary oak trees on this farm property. If you look at the background, you can see that the Sierras finally are getting some snow. Lets hope that it keeps on coming.
As I was driving around outside of Bass Lake, I took a side trip to the Kelty Meadow Campground. I saw some snow on the ground in the shadows and thought that might make a nice landscape with the meadow in the background. One of the shots I was trying to take was this dome feature. When I was walking around the campground trying to find a good view, I came to this location and was surprised to get such a good view of the Fresno Dome. Of course, I broke out the camera and starting clicking different framing of this landmark. This was my favorite of the day.
The Kelty Meadow Campground is unique in that it was designed for camping with horses. They have hitching posts and fencing around the campgrounds to keep the horses close to camp. There even was a large watering trough for the horses. It's a pretty cool campground.
I went out for a drive into the Fresno foothills looking to see if the wild flowers had started blooming yet. A few areas had blooms but there wasn't too much color yet. I was shooting across the street from the this location and almost missed this shot. We had a big rain come through on Friday and there was still a nice water pool in this farm. I went over hoping to get a nice reflection off of the pool. It pays to check out what is behind you sometimes.

This little lonely school sits out in the vast open plains. A result of another railroad town drying up.
