The Reason Rally took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Saturday, March 24, 2012. It was sponsored by many of the country’s largest and most influential secular organizations.

The political maneuvering around the Government of Ireland Bill in 1886 was as much about religion as politics and power - in fact, like the Catholic trinity, they were all really one entity. While Charles Stewart Parnell felt the bill had its faults, he was ready to vote for it, but Unionists and the Orange Order were fierce in their resistance; they dubbed "Home Rule" as "Rome Rule." Because of the Irish migration to the United States, these politics could not be ignored, but Heston sees the struggle as between two realms of superstition, Protestant and Catholic, and it's the superstition, not the politics, that keeps the two dogs at each other's throat.
