I tracked Aryn underwater with the camera, pointing the camera at an upwards angle, hoping desperately that I would get a good shot of him passing overtop. We only had one pair of goggles between the two of us and it was rather difficult to see what you were shooting while underwater.

free styled this one. not bad. it was cool to rock with some people i started with. jimboe, and ocioe, i was glad to paint with them again. good times.

Freestyle painted in 1998 solo mission at the Bomb Shelter, Minneapolis, Minnesota. I always had fun when trying new style ideas. After my 1996 trip to Copenhagen, where I created my own choppy outline technique, I didn't really use it that much. It was something that I kind of kept in my back pocket for days when I got bored of the traditional Bar styles. It added a fun swing to simple outlines and was even picked up and used often by an old crew-mate, who took it further then I did, Kept aka Mope. To me, it was just a way to escape the mundane. Nowadays, Outlines that are jagged or with a whole bunch of craziness to them, is pretty common but back at this time in America, it was real out of place. Even after I painted pieces in this style, I felt like I was going backwards. This style was actually real easy for me to do because you didn't have to follow the traditional rules. Other then for Kept, it really didn't seem to catch on, so I just stopped doing it and went back to my symmetrical bar style. This piece in general always reminded me of some underwater starfish or coral or something. If you look in the fill, there is actually giant jade green stars in it.
