dvGreen Makes Entertaining Beautiful, Stylish and Good for the Planet

July, 2007, New York City, NY—You don’t have to sacrifice style to make the planet a

better place. This is the philosophy Danielle Venokur lives by and hopes to promote with

her sustainable events production company, dvGreen. The new company, which promises fabulous events with a reduced ecological and carbon footprint, offers clients organic food, flowers and table linens—as well as tree-free paper invitations, vegetable-based inks, the donation and composting of leftover food, and more– while creating all the quality and ambiance of an A-List event .

Small gatefold brochure for dvGreen, a sustainable event production company. Measures 3.50 x 4.25 inches and fits in your pocket (admit it...every vertical tri-fold brochure you pick up gets folded in half and dropped in your bag or coat pocket). Also, we based our sizing decision on the long standing theory that "small equals cute" (see: puppies, kittens). Some still had doubts, so I added the smiling snail just in case.

I've been designing a small line of "vintage tees" for KFC. The design above has been dropped into the "rejected" folder, but is my personal fave of the bunch. More to come.

The words spoken to me while trying to design a business card for fashion designer, Magdalena Marcenaro.

Shown: a few of the designs created and printed in hopes that she'll be entertained. Even printed a bunch of "blank" ones consisting only of a logo and info so she may doodle and collage on them.

Carolina Fay, owner/designer of the newly formed Urban Hund, needed a catalog to feature her line of fashionable dog accessories. We designed a non-traditional format catalog that allowed retailers and customers to see a variety of designs at a glance and highlight the quality of color, leather and stitching. Additionally, quirky illustrations and subtle humor evokes the “city-style” and hip personality her brand aspires to.

“Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery” is a Bestseller

Biblio Distribution has announced that “Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery” is a bestseller, falling within the top sales tier of all the active titles that Biblio Distribution carries.

“Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery” describes how inadequately surgery treats prostate cancer and describes the side effects of surgery in graphic detail. The book also describes alternative, and less harmful, ways to treat prostate cancer such as cryosurgery, radiation therapy, radiation seed implants, hormone blockade, herbal medications, estrogen, watchful waiting, and active non-invasive therapy.

“In the recent randomized controlled trial by Bill-Axelson et al., there was only a 5 percent increase in survival for the men who underwent surgery after 10 years of follow-up,” says the book’s author, Dr. Bradley Hennenfent, “and, there was no increase in survival at all for men over the age of 65 who underwent surgery. Clearly, most surgery for prostate cancer has been a failure, because it’s been ineffective, and it has caused side effects.”

“In my experience, men often go into prostate cancer surgery thinking it’s going to be 80, 90, or 100 percent effective,” says Dr. Hennenfent, “while, in fact, the opposite is true.”

Dr. Hennenfent has seen five uncles suffer from prostate cancer and has seen them treated by various methods. He co-founded the Prostatitis Foundation (www.Prostatitis.org), founded the Epididymitis Foundation (www.EpididymitisFoundation.org), and founded the Acoustic Neuroma Foundation (www.AcousticNeuromaFoundation.org). He previously published "The Prostatitis Syndromes." The doctor also penned a reality TV show called, “Presidential Contender.”

"Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery" can be found in fine bookstores everywhere. It's $19.95, a trade paperback, 334 pages, 34 chapters, ISBN Number: 0-9717454-1-2. Twenty-seven illustrations and cartoons are included within the book, which also includes an extensive index.

The website for the book is www.SurvivingProstateCancerWithoutSurgery.org.

Just me being silly. While designing 40 cards there always a few silly illustrations.
