Traveling on a train roof, you don't need a ticket plus free dosage of adrenaline. Only thing you risk is your life. A very common scene in Bangladesh.
The printing on the outside of this card claims that it's an Official Free Pass Good on All Lines of the A.H.H. & W.W.A., which makes it sound like it's a free railroad pass.
When the card is opened, however, a specially constructed "magic thumb" pops up above the edge, revealing that the "A.H.H. & W.W.A." isn't actually a railway line. Instead, the initials stand for the "American Hitch-Hiker and Weary-Walker Association."
To use the "free pass," of course, you have to "start waggling the magic thumb" on your own hand in order to hitch a ride from a passing motorist.

Someone clipped this spoof of a railroad pass out of a newspaper published sometime in 1906 (the text on the other side of the clipping helped me to determine the year).
Despite the promise of a potentially valuable "Free Pass" for the Pennsylvania Railroad, it becomes quickly apparent that there's a catch. "This pass is good on all railroads," it says, "provided the bearer walks, carries his own baggage, swims all rivers, and stops at Huggins, the Tailor, 207 Locust St., Harrisburg, Pa."
Edgar J. Huggins, who's listed as a "merchant tailor" in Boyd's Directory of Harrisburg and Steelton for 1908, used this fake pass as an ad to attract potential customers to his shop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
It's likely that Huggins' Free Pass ad appeared during 1906 in the Harrisburg Telegraph newspaper, but I haven't been able to figure out exactly when (I did locate other "Huggins the Tailor" advertisements in the issues for March 22 and May 9, 1906).
At first I was puzzled by the illustration. Why would a railroad pass—even one that's intended as a joke—depict a canal boat being pulled by horses rather than a locomotive pulling a train? (See a rotated version of the ad for a better view of the boat.)
But after considering it further, I think that placing a canal boat on the Return Ticket extends the joke by suggesting that the pass holder—who presumably has already had to walk, swim, and carry his own luggage to get to his destination—will have to return home on a form of transportation that was already outmoded for passenger travel well before 1906.

Pennsylvania Railroad Free Pass
This pass is good on all railroads provided the bearer walks, carries his own baggage, swims all rivers, and stops at Huggins, the Tailor, 207 Locust St., Harrisburg, Pa. Return ticket.
A trip out into Gothenburg's archipelago is a great experience whatever time of the year you go. You can take the ferry from Saltholmen to reach the southern archipelago. Buy the Gothenburg Pass and travel for free. Regular costs is the same as a tram ride. But remember to catch the last ferryboat back. The lighthouse guides westbound vessels approaching the islands of Hönö and Fötö. Accessible only by boat. This coast faces west the Kattegat and the Oresund, which is separating Sweden and Denmark.
The islands have a small number of permanent residents in addition to the people coming to the islands to enjoy the summer months either for the day on the beach or in a rented summer house.

Winston "Buddy" Deane was the host of the Buddy Deane Show, which was a popular teen dance show that aired in Baltimore from 1957 to 1964. If you're familiar with the John Waters film (and later musical) Hairspray, then you may know that the Buddy Deane Show was the basis for the film's Corny Collins Show.
Deane was also the disc jockey at record hops in Maryland and Pennsylvania during the late 1950s and early 1960s. These were advertised as a "Buddy Deane Hop" or the "Hop of the Year," and they were often sponsored by school and community groups as fundraising events. In the years following the release of the original Hairspray movie (1988), Deane deejayed again, this time for middle-aged fans at record hops in Baltimore. Buddy Deane passed away in 2003 at the age of seventy-eight.

I have given myself 12 free passes during my 365. 12 days to not take a photo, for days I just don't have time or simply just forget. Yesterday I did not take a shot, I was so tired and sleepy I just forgot! Well, I took some photos of some cookies I made before baking them, but they turned out crap and I had planned to take new photos when they were done, but I forgot. And I decided to use a free pass instead of uploading a crappy shot. This is a shot from the same shoot as my very first 365 photo :)

This Ten Commandments parody is printed on the inside of a folded novelty card that served as an advertisement for the Esquimalt Hotel. For the front and back of the card, see Free Pass, Esquimalt Hotel, Esquimalt, British Columbia, Canada, ca. 1920s.
This humorous list circulated as early as the mid-nineteenth century in different versions with different titles, including "The Ten Commandments of the Tavern and Hotel Keepers." See, for instance, "The Tavern-Keepers' Ten Commandments," Historical Magazine, April 1867, p. 234.
The Landlord's Ten Commandments
1st -- When thirsty, thou shalt come to my house and drink, but not to excess; that thou may live long in the land and enjoy thyself for ever.
2nd -- Thou shalt not take anything from me that is unjust, for I need all I have and more.
3rd -- Thou shalt not expect too large glasses, nor filled too full, for we must pay our rent.
4th -- Thou shalt not sing or dance, only when thy spirit moveth thee to do thy best.
5th -- Thou shalt honour me and mine that thou mayest live long and see me again.
6th -- Thou shalt not destroy or break anything on the premises else thou shalt pay double the value; thou shalt not care to pay me in bad money, not even say chalk or slate.
7th-- Thou shalt call at my place daily. If unable to come I shall feel it an insult, unless thou send a substitute or an apology.
8th-- Thou shalt not abuse thy fellow bummers nor cast base insinuations upon their character by hinting that they can't drink too much.

Nothing too exciting to see here. This is just the text on the back of the newspaper clipping for the Free Pennsylvania Railroad Pass. It helped me to determine that the Railroad Pass ad on the other side was published in 1906.
"The Worm That Eats Canada Thistle" article, for instance, which is partially visible on the left, also appeared in a North Carolina newspaper in April 1906, and the list of damages to buildings and crops in the right-hand column are "losses incurred in 1905" as indicated at the bottom.
