Free Comic Book Day 2014
Bumblebee does indeed sport an Autobot logo right in the middle of the steering wheel. I caressed it.

The Outer Limits wasn't awfully busy during the 45 minutes I was there. It varies from site to site; some stores have to set up tents outside the building to handle all of the overflow.
And stores have different policies regarding how the Free Comics get distributed. I go a step or two beyond merely playing by the rules and bypass any comix that seem to be in short supply at the site, just make sure that I'm not depriving the day's many first-time visitors of some floppy reads. I took my legal max at The Outer Limits and then decided to swing on by my other usual shop, both to pick up a couple other titles that were in short supply at TOL and to see what was going on.
The joint was jumpin'; New England Comics is part of a chain, and this particular outlet is in the middle of a busy town square. Also, the manager put a big sandwich sign out at the stop light.
Total take: 10 comics.
(Oh, hush: I also bought a trade paperback, two postcards, two magazine boxes, and a shortbox.)
The cream of the crop was clearly "The Unseen Peanuts," a collection of about 150 classic "Peanuts" strips that had never been reprinted before...not until Fantagraphics started the meticulous process of collecting the entire run from Day One.
Actually, the Free Comic has a feature missing from the books: explanations of the reasons why some of the "missing" strips had never seen the light of day before.
If you're reading about this and feeling bad that you missed out, go ahead and stop by your clean and well-lit local comix shop anyway. There's a good chance that they'll still have freebies left over.
