Biblioteca Freebook is a red telephone box located at Via Marconi in Barga. It’s not just any telephone box, but an iconic British telephone box. This box was donated by a family from Edinburgh. Given Barga’s strong links to Scotland, this little piece of British heritage has found a new home in Italy.
The red telephone box in Barga has been repurposed into a “book crossing” or a mini library. You can take books that are no longer needed, and you can pick one or two up as well. It’s a beautiful initiative that combines a love of reading with a nod to Barga’s Scottish connections.
