When I’m not making cards, I’m making some keepsakes. And photo frames are my most favourite thing to make. I used the morning ink from #simonsaysstamp and an older retired ‘Choose Happy’ set,

The Barony A Frame Trust was set up in 1997 as a community led charitable Trust specifically to save and restore the iconic A Frame at the former Barony Colliery in Auchinleck, East Ayrshire.

Following the decision by Scottish Coal to close the pit, all of the mine buildings were demolished leaving the A Frame structure isolated in a derelict landscape. However, no one had banked on the depth of feeling for the former Barony Colliery and its unique A Frame. The community rallied around the mission to save the A Frame from demolition. and create a meaningful and sustainable monument to mining and mining communities.

The structure was in need of a major face-lift so, with assistance from East Ayrshire Council, the Trust set about raising £1.3m to carry out the work. Fundraising took far longer than was initially anticipated but by 2007 the remedial work to the A Frame was complete along with major landscaping and improvement works to the surrounding site. The end result is a sustainable, meaningful monument to the mining industry and the communities who worked in it.

Each page/ frame will be collaged, painted, stenciled, written on or whatever suits me at the time I am doing it.

By the end of the day, there is a door frame, some window frames, and more bales in place.

Canon Rebel 2000 film camera, Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 lens, Kodak Gold 200 colour negative film.

For this assignment, I carried my camera around with me for about a week and a half, and tried to find things which were either interesting to me, or which seemed to say something about my life. The photos I've taken, I think, show a bit of how I look at the world. I'm always looking for weird, quirky perspectives, and for a way to turn the mundane into something more interesting. Sometimes the least interesting thing can become utterly fascinating if it's framed right. The photos reflect places that I frequent (the street I live on, Foothill College, the train station), though it isn't always obvious where the photo was taken (the macro flower images are from the street I live on, for instance).

I would say that my greatest success with these photos is the lack of blur. Blur is something which plagues me when I'm taking photos, and I was glad to find that most of the images that I took for this assignment were blur free. I did take the first 25 or so images with an absurdly high ISO, though, so some of the earlier images are pretty grainy. I need to be more mindful of my camera settings.

I make no apologies for a mass of photos through windows, seemed to be my obsession during the holiday.

Perfect Grade Astray Red Frame Gundam that I build up over the weekend. By this stage it must taken me 12 or so hours over 2 days to get this far but I really did enjoy building the Astray Red Frame

Makes a nice coin purse. Good thing I still have plenty of frames to fix my mistakes!

Framed print from the print I won off the lovely Lizzy House's blog. This was the inspiration for her first fabulous fabric line!

It's hard to see in the photo but the orange is an inset piece of wood called a filet hand mixed & painted to match the orange in the print, which sits back in the frame by about 7.5mm. I LOVE it!

other frame, this is how it's gonna look like...more or less...

This photo meets the project goal because it has framing and good composition.

To take this photo i took very small flower from the tree and placed on the top of a heart, part of the necklace, i also had very dark background and blurred out the beads of the necklace so the main focus would be the flower and the heart.

The strength of my photo would be the placement and the angle this photo was captured at, the weaknesses of this photo would be the light because i took it inside the house.

For a while I have been looking for an elaborate gold frame that was 'yay' big. i mentioned it to a mate of mine and he said he had an old frame which he didnt want anymore and that I was more then welcome to it. It was exactly the frame I had been looking for - it was perfect. Here it is.

This image is way too noisey and oversharpened for my liking.. but it was just a quick and dirty process to see what it was going to look like.

A very windy day so the long grass in the centre blurred nicely as did all the extremities.

For framing and composition, I took a photo of an abandoned barn off of 32 and Oakridge Rd. I asked my mom to pull over because I thought it was the perfect opportunity to capture a good photo. The sun was shining, and I believed it was great lighting. In this photo, not only is this beautiful barn being framed by the trees, but the path also frames the barn. The focal point in this photo is the opening door of the barn. The door is being enhanced by the trees on either side and the path. Starting from the very front of the photo, the eyes are lead down the path, and to the door. I really love all of the vibrant and warn colors in this photo, and I really like the rustic look. If I could change anything about this photo, I might straighten the photo a little more and make the top of the barn exactly a 90 degree angle with the edge of the photo; however, I don't really think that it is highly noticeable. Overall, I think I did a really nice job capturing this photo at the right time of day, and at the right place!

The start of some upcoming paintings.

The one in the sketchbook is the design for a framed piece. I've bought a wide wooden frame (on the right), and my idea is to frame one of my paintings, and to continue the painting onto this frame: www.flickr.com/photos/sneddonia/2243227914/

The canvas at the back will have a tree similar to this one painted on it: www.flickr.com/photos/sneddonia/2223588078/

What do you do to a photo to bring attention to it? You put it into a FRAME for display in hopes of drawing attention. You can do this in-camera while getting your shot by using natural frames all around you to increase the drama, suspension, emotion, highlight your subject, and make your photos more interesting. Alfred Hitchcock said: "Drama is life with the dull bits cut out." Today we will be sharing tips with some posts to educate and inspire you to "freeze/capture your photos with a frame." .

.

3⃣rd tip on framing: There is almost always architecture around you. Architecture can add so much suspense to your photos. Look for narrow hallways, paths, arches, streets with buildings in a row. When you find them, step back, look at the beautiful frame, place your subject in the middle and BRAVO!....you've just framed your subject with architecture.
