Looking at these fragile and hauntingly beautiful cherry blossoms being blown around in the rain just reminded me of the frailty of humanity.
Lets take a moment to remember the victims of the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
Here's a picture dedicated to all the survivors and victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
In the wake of a devastating apocalypse, the remnants of humanity, humanoids, androids, and visiting aliens face a chaotic and desolate world. Amidst the ruins, a fragile unity emerges, driven by the shared necessity to rebuild. As former boundaries blur, collaboration becomes a lifeline—a testament to resilience and the possibility of harmony even in the darkest times. This series captures the poignant beauty of an unlikely alliance forged in the crucible of survival.
Beneath the ashen skies, we stand,
Fragments of lives, of dreams unmanned.
Android hearts and alien eyes,
Reflect the echoes of human cries.
Where chaos reigns, we plant the seed,
Of unity born from mutual need.
No borders now, no walls, no chains,
Only the hope that life remains.
Through shattered halls, our voices soar,
A fragile hymn for what's in store.
Together we build, together we mend,
In this strange new world, where time may bend.
Ruins cradle hope,
Wires and flesh weave fragile dreams,
New worlds softly bloom.
Alien whispers,
Echo through the broken earth,
Harmony is born.
Chaos births anew,
Hands of steel and flesh entwine,
Life reclaims its throne.
AND FOR THIS PART:
In the rolling hills of southern France, where lavender dances in the breeze, a farmer tends to his flock. By his side stands a humanoid woman, a marvel of technology. She moves with quiet precision, her understanding of the sheep almost otherworldly.
The farmer watches as his flock gathers around her, their trust in her undeniable. He wonders—does she speak their language, some silent communion between steel and wool? Though she is not like him, she has become an essential part of his world.
When her mechanisms falter, the farmer doesn’t despair. Together, they navigate her repairs, finding harmony in the melding of humanity and machine. Their story is one of resilience, trust, and the quiet miracle of coexistence.
Among the fields where sheep do roam,
A farmer stands, no longer alone.
Her metal hands, so soft, so kind,
Guide the flock with an agile mind.
Her voice is silent, yet they obey,
In her presence, the sheep choose to stay.
Does she whisper in tones I can’t hear,
Words of solace, drawing them near?
When she falters, I take her apart,
Steel and circuits, but she has a heart.
Together we mend, together we grow,
Man and machine, a bond to show.
Tatton Biennial
Pont de Singe by Olivier Grossetete.
A folly of design and engineering - this work exposes the fragility of human endeavour and the power of imagination.
Reflecting the architecture of Tatton's Japanese Garden and the flight of fancy as a whole, an almond-eye bridge suggests the power of daydreams and their ability to transform reality. There is no way on or off the bridge, which is held aloft by three helium filled balloons. Instead, the work is offered as a meditation for those who wish to contemplate an impossible journey.

Inside corridors of a nearly and completely demolished old brick factory.

Photo Assignment for Week 13/52: "Fragile"

Blown, hot-worked glass
Three petals, three stamens, and a pistil appear as if they have fallen from a giant lily. One of the petals bears the faint inscription "Heartbeat" and another, "Fragility." The delicacy of the glass flowers is reminiscent of the transitory nature of life, which can be vibrant one minute and gone the next.
A little male Fragile Forktail, carrying a small payload of mites. I don't think the mites are parasitic; I think they're phoretic mites, which attach themselves to insects and "hitch a ride" so they can travel distances that they couldn't under their own power.
What a fragile moment in life this is. Never again will the patterns in the sand be quite the same, the hues and colours of the sky identical, the clouds exactly as they are now. This moment is unique. As is your moment, in the here and now, experienced only by you, in the infinite richness of this universe.
If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are
It is very similar to "When It Rains.." farm3.static.flickr.com/2192/2224536422_a666cf850c_b.jpg

This sculpture by Tracey Emin has bronzed birds atop each of five poles, indicating the fragility of life.
"Ikigai", that Japanese concept that alludes to reason and balance, seems to be a guiding thread in Manuel Castillero's artistic search. Pursuing your curiosities and unraveling that mystique, that purpose, is what makes it so interesting. His work does not fail to generously offer a space that allows us to see ourselves reflected in it, feed back on it, make it our own.
Thus, Castillero's painting not only explores its own raison d'être, but suggests that we inhabit in our own flesh the body of the explorers that we find in his pieces. And it is precisely there, in that invitation, where the power of this exhibition lies; the explorers are not the others, they are us, or at least we could be. Through his art, Castillero invites us to rediscover those spaces, to inhabit solitude, to resonate with the human in every corner of his landscapes. Ikigai is perhaps a device that allows us to return to those places and reflect on the particular relationship we have with them.
In one of our talks, Manuel confessed to me: “dystopia is also our mirror. That exercise of imagination raises doubts and problems that are fascinating. They put us in front of a mirror that shows how our species behaves in borderline situations, sometimes pessimistically and other times with wonderful optimism." And that reflection is alive in his work. In his paintings, that tension between the possible and the improbable, between nostalgia and the future, resonates strongly; a desperate struggle between what we are and what we fear or hope to become.
It's as if every corner, every window or every sprout of weeds alludes to the fragility of the familiar, to the impossibility of staying in the beloved. His work is an ode to longing and the feeling of not belonging.

From the brochure
This icy structure appeared so incredibly fragile, holding firm against gravity, wind, and temperature.
It snowed almost 3 inches overnight. I took a camera outside midmorning to what remained after the sun had its way for a couple hours.

Lest we forget how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star, like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are, how fragile we are" - Sting
