The many rivers of an iceberg

Pulled to the shoulder of the road to take pictures of a small stream, but wasn't happy with the look of the scene once I was able pulled over. Looked across the freeway to my left and liked the stand of tall skinny trees with dense forest behind. Using intentional camera movement. Ended up with several shots I liked. The reason I titled this Fractured Forest was the fractured and processed look the small branches created on the image. I flipped the image over 180 degrees because I liked the way it looks better upside-down. So what you're now seeing is actually upside-down.

If you take the scene of the ancient rocks I showed you yesterday, deliberately fracture it and then reassemble the parts, this is one of the results.

Up ahead: Mount Olympus and her neighbors.

It is said to expect the unexpected.

I did not expect this...

Sitting at my desk (7" away from our large picture window) looking at my monitor I suddenly heard a sonic boom. I turned to the window, hearing cracking, cracking and cracking. This picture shows the end product. I am fine, but admit it shook me up. I'm told it is not uncommon for atmospheric pressure changes to do this. Of course it had to be on my 6"x 6" picture window- Oy!

Well at least I got this unique window view to share with you.

Update: just had the measuring man out for the replacement order. He thinks it was a bird. Very odd as sitting at the window there was no shadow or movement of a bird what so ever.

Education and religion, especially, should awaken in the young an awareness of the world in which they live, how it functions, how the human fits into the larger community of life, the role that the human fulfills in the great story of the universe, and the historical sequence of developments that have shaped our physical and cultural landscape. Along with this awareness of the past and present, education and religion should communicate some guidance concerning the future.
