Demolition continues on the Crawford Coal Power Plant in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago. It was closed in 2012 after a long battle with community activists. It was owned by Midwest Generation, a subsidiary of Edison International. Demolition of the plant began in 2019. On April 11, 2020, the concrete smokestack was imploded and created a large dust cloud that covered the surrounding neighborhood.
On May 31st New Yorkers from across the city are going to be descending on the Clean Energy Standard hearing in lower Manhattan to help spark a renewable energy revolution in the Empire State. We need you there with us for our climate, our economy, and the city we love. This is the big one.

End Dependence (on Fossil Fuels) Day
Sacramento, CA - July 4, 2023
On End Dependence Day, The Last Chance Alliance, Oil and Gas Action Network, Women With Bows and many other Environmental and Social Justice groups, came together at the state capitol in Sacramento with a 12 "Oil Derrick" art installation. They called on Governor Gavin Newsom to: End Dependence on fossil fuels, stop approving new fossil fuel projects and stop all drilling near homes, schools and hospitals.
Climate Justice groups teamed up with groups working on indigenous rights, racial justice, LGBTQ issues, homelessness, poverty, immigrant rights, and more for a Community Unity Gathering to demand Newsom ’end-dependence’ on fossil fuels and highlight the needs of the community!

Greenpeace activists walked a 15 foot monster to the White House, to call on President Biden to support a Global Plastics Treaty. There is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the United Nations to begin negotiating a Global Plastics Treaty. A decision will be made in February as to whether to start the process. To date the US has opposed the treaty, but Biden’s team is reevaluating its position. Plastics is on the agenda at the G7 in June and it is crucial that the Administration comes out of the gates supporting the development of a strong Global Plastics Treaty.

In May 2011, Schumer said “the time to repeal these giveaways is now” when talking about tax subsidies for big oil on the floor of the senate.

Millennium Bulk Logistics is proposing to build a 44 million ton coal export terminal in Longview. The hearing was held at the Cowlitz Expos Center on May 24, 2016.

Inside the meeting, grassroots leaders from Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Standing Rock, North Dakota will bring grievances directly to executives, directors, and unit holders.

Approximately a dozen people climbed into the pipeline trenches making the connection between this new fracked gas fossil fuel project and the mass graves being prepared in anticipation of the coming climate fueled Summer heat.

In collaboration with Copenhagen Business School, we organised our second TBLI CONFERENCE NORDIC event, addressing specifically the financial sector in Scandinavia and the UK. The program addressed topics relevant for investors and finance professionals striving to better align profits with impact - with a view across all asset classes.
This event marked the 30th TBLI CONFERENCE held since 1998.

A report by Greenpeace, Global Witness and Oil Change International projects that oil and gas companies could make tens of billions in additional profits while we see skyrocketing gas prices around the country. Oil prices have been rising to near-record levels due to Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.
Different environmental and social groups held a protest in front of the public market and coal power plant in Calaca, Batangas, Philippines on May 14, 2016. They are calling to stop the propose expansion of this coal plant.

June 24 2016: The Clean Energy Revolution marchers advocated an immediate ban on fracking, ending the use of fossil fuels, stopping the use of all dirty energy sources, a transition to 100% renewables and environmental justice for all.
WASHINGTON DC, USA -- Sunday, May 15th, 2016. Hundreds of climate activists protest at a rally organized by the Break Free movement against fossil fuel projects. Demonstrators went to the streets at the nation's capital to protest in front of the White House, calling on the decision makers in Washington DC to support the transition to renewable energy instead of coal, oil and gas energy.
Break Free 2016 is a week of coordinated direct actions that target the most dangerous fossil fuel projects, in an effort to keep coal, oil and gas in the ground and accelerate a just transition to 100% renewable energy. Thousands of people all over the planet are putting their bodies on the line to send a message to polluters and politicians that we need to break free from fossil fuels now.

From the toxic waste created by the extreme extraction of tar sands destroying indigenous communities in Canada, to toxins created by the BP Whiting refinery producing sacrifice communities in the Greater Chicago area, to the resultant catastrophic effect on our climate, the urgent need for a just transition away from fossil fuels to a 100% renewable energy economy is abundantly clear.

Resist the Pipeline
Developing countries are a major source of air pollution from burning fossil fuels.
A lot of the reason is from lack of adjustment in motors. Simple education about mechanics could help reduce some of this pollution.
